Don't know where I picked this up but it prevents me from getting exp. How do I get rid of it. Also is Mind Shield good or bad and how do I get rid of it as well?

Energy drain can be cured by a restoration spell (lesser or greater) or through the services at a temple. Mind shield should always be a good thing. Items such as the helm of charm protection and others that protect your characters from mental effects will cause the mind shield icon to appear.

Use a restoration spell or scroll or get it cast from a temple for the level drain.

I'm not certain but I think mind shield is good and comes from drinking potions that raise your intelligence. It'll go away as the temporary effects wear off just like it unfortunately did for Algernon.
