I had a bad time with this area also. I found that I had to map it on a separate piece of paper as follows, with the letters showing which elevator leads to which other elavator (ignoring the connecting tunnels):

This is just an example. The letters do not indicate actual connections. Hope this helps.

Boy, my example came out all jumbled. Just draw four diamonds laid out in a square and the letter the points on the diamonds that connect.
