I am starting a new game, but I dont know whom I shall be!
I know I shall be a spellcaster, but here you have to help me decide.
Shall I control a priest, a monk or a druid!? Mail in your opinions, and I shall pick out the one that sound coolest!

I don't think monks have any spellcasting ability.

If you have ToB be a wild mage, though I'm a bit partial.

But if you want to be in the priest category, I'd take a cleric and keep Jah as your druid, or if you want to be a Druid, I'd take Vic as your cleric.

Start as a Totemic druid, the best kit of druid!

Where there are monsters and barbarians there will be Byronas fighting against them.

If you want a spellcaster, why don't you try a mage? Especially a conjurer one (alright, he can't learn identify, so what?). A sorcerer is good as well, though his spells are very limited.

StarVid 10-16-2001 12:28 PM

I don't see how a conjuror can be better than a wild mage. A wild mage is a specialist with no oppositional school and extra spells (Nahal's Reckless Dweomer). Sure you run the odd chance of something random happening, but it's pretty rare, and usually pretty cool...

Furthermore, didn't they fully implement the opposition schools for the Conjuror in BG2? They're supposed to lose more than just divination. I can't play one in good conscience and use spells that I'm technically not supposed to use.

but that's my 2 cents...

Yeah, I recommend Sorcerers as well. It`s such a relief to get rid of the memorizing spells bit. My Sorcerer is like a walking flamethrower. She will run up to enemies and WOOSH!, hit them with a couple of Burning Hands... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

That said, I haven`t tried a Wild Mage yet.

Clerics are cool

I really like blades. They are ok spellcasters but you can use offensive spin and get in some serious damage if you have too.

StarVid 10-16-2001 04:37 PM

yeah, the sorcerers are pretty cool too...assuming that you pick the right spells.

now, if there was a wild sorcerer...THAT would be something. It would kinda make sense too. The sorcerers are not some intellectual bookworms, they cast on instinct, it would make sense for something odd to happen now and again, no?
