I just realized today I forgot to reregister my vehicle. I was suppose to do this 14 days ago but forgot about it. I will need to do this immediately hopefully because I don't want a huge fine. Hopefully I don't get pulled over on the way home. I am such a dumb dumb!!!!! Has anyone else been so dumb????

I don't know what they do up your way, but down my way if you forget or for some reason have an expired inspection you can be escorted to a place to get inspected or be told to do so within a certain number of days. But in the case of registration lapsing they can take your plates and not let you drive at all til you pay and get the proper paperwork. Or they can be nice and let you head right to the Dept of Motor Vehicles!

I've generally found that if you're on the way to get your car registered that the cops can be pretty forgiving. Usually people I knew who did things like this were issued a ticket with a stiuplation that if the problem was corrected within a certin number of days that there would be no fine. However if they pull you over for something else and discover your registration is out of date then they aren't very likely to be nice.

I've had a time when I haven't been able to get my car inspected when it was due, but that was because everyone seems to run out of the the little inspection stickers in December. In addition to expired inspection it was easy to spot because in NY the color of the sticker changes at the start of the new year.

dumber people-my best friend's "live-in-father-to-her-children" has had so many dui's i don't think she knows when he's supposed to get his license back. then, even tho the car was in her name, he stopped paying the car insurance. 3 months later the insurance company told the state so the state said "hey give us your plates and now you can't register another vehicle until the beginning of next year." so they bought another car, leaving it in the previous owners name to register it, and he said he'd pay the car ins this time. never did register it, nor insure it. and depending on whether or not you believe his story he ran from the cops in the car, got the (bleep) beat out of him, the car was impounded, and yet he's not been taken into police custody, they never did a blood alcohol test, and they didn't take the plates away, just impounded the car and let him pay to take it home. shannon thinks he got in a bar brawl over another woman and the cops were called in for it. oh well. doesn't matter, he's still dumber than you.
