Following up on Olli Kalma’s excellent suggestion I now make this a separate topic.

Once we have made a complete list I will add it to the best tips. I think it would be best to categorise them in 2 or 3 groups: A) NPCs: Friendly and unfriendly characters who play a major role in the game even though one may not have conversations with them. (Such as Xydusa). Also town NPCs will not be included. B) one of a kind monsters: Here we might distinguish between monsters who only spawn when a quest has been accepted (like Mon the Sculz) and those who are always there. (I am not sure if we should make that distinction).
Please comment on these thoughts.

Thank you all for your corrections, comments and additions so far. Keep them coming.

Excellent idea and list!

Also need Juba Thobers in the Valeia wilderness.

Malgrim is one of the two other Boogres. I forget the barkeep's name...

What about the soft-shell crab in the Stout Mines? It's unique for the area, although it's not unique...

The wizard that needs to be killed in Brimloch Roon's wilderness.. Ramakamil, isn't it?

And isn't the mermaid in Collaseum Sarelia, or something like that? Gotta check my notes...

Looking at this list really hammers home how much work is involved in making a good game. What are there, close to 50 NPCs and other major/minor characters?

Great idea!!! Here's a few additions

Boogres' Caves

Barkeep - Blubarb

Collasium

1st mermaid - Sarella
Cet's mermaid - Vermoura

To confirm, after finishing Collasseum tonight...

Vermoura/Urgassa is the mermaid changeling sent by Cet. The Oracle sent by Anephas is Ala-Shakhan. And the first mermaid you meet is Sarellia.

'Night, all.

Perhaps we should also add the traveller. He should be the same person as Grue Morde, but I have found it possible to kill the traveller and Gareth will still die and Grue Morde will still spawn. But that is probably just a result of a "slip" in the programming.

Please, continue to make additions and corrections. Especially if I have misspelled any of the names.

WOW! That was quite list you have made!

I will read more specific soon and trying to remember some other things...

[after a while]

But you didn't make it easy to me! Can't find anyone to be added into list!

Just wander? Is there any problem this board haven't soluted?

It seems the list will soon be ripe for posting in the best tips thread. A couple of things though:

1) A few corrections I have found myself: Raskalion is only with one L. The name of the two-headed giant is Doshi-Gin, not Goshi-Gin. The full name of the Sphynx is the Mystical Sphynx. The name of the Oracle of Earth is Urthdala. The name of Cet's second senior henchman is Almanon, not Algamon.

2) Perhaps we should also include those characters one never meets but whose names are mentioned. I have found so far:

Methdu, the god mentioned by the toadsavages
Galian, the unfortunate prisoner in Shurugeon Castle
Rejyr, the hero married to Mada Mabbig to prevent her from killing
Mastus and Arthos, the warriors whose tombs are in the crypt
Argus, apparently another legendary warrior whose relics the djinni provide
Grundel, the stout singed by Erathsmedor
Algamesh, Kerielle's friend
King Arthur, whom Erathsmedor mentions as a knight he tried to eat, but whom Kerah saved.

3) In the journal kept for each character by the game I came across a figure known as Maligant. Who and where on earth is that character? It does not say anything significant, but it is quite obvious it is rather malig(n)ant. Does anyone remember having encountered Maligant and where?

4) The time limit in which one may edit a post has become rather tight. So once I post the list in the best tips thread I am counting on you, Wyvern, to moderate my post in case of additions or corrections to the list.

Furthermore a couple of names are still missing.

Don't forget poor G'ezzered Ra's reprise, hanging out in the pyramid... ;)

Great list and ideas!

Thank you, Sazerac.

Also I forgot to add the former Stout King Brinbath to the list of mentioned but never encountered people.

There is a spider mother in the dragon spire, but she's a monster, not an NPC. She doesn't talk, she just tries to kill you.
