Ahh, all you have to do is to start an mp-game. (multiplayer-game)
Just log on, choose create a new game, and not join game, and you can make all of your party by yourself.

I believe it only works if you have it set on serial.

nope- i set mine on TC-IP or whatever. does anyone know how to solve the pausing problem in bg2 cos you virtualy have to beat the keyboard to get a response.

To play completely through with ur own party without having to be online every timeu want to play-
1. Start a Multiplayer game at Gamespy
2. Create the entire party yourself.
3. Save the game.
4. Go to ur BG2 directory, and ul find a directory called 'mplayer' open it.
5. Go to the Saves within Mplayer, and u will see a directory with the name of the game u just saved.
6. Move this directory into ur BG2 saves directory (usually C:\Program Files\Interplay\BG2:SOA\SAVES).
7. U can now play with this party in single player mode. Just open the game and load as usual.

You don't have to start it at Gamespy, or be online. You can select TCP/IP or Serial w/o problems offline, or even IPX if you have the IPX protocol installed in your networking options.

I said Ganespy because I know the name of the directory.

As already mentioned above, you can create all the characters in your party by starting a multiplayer game on your own computer. The only disadvantage is that you might end up with a party that is too strong, if you take the time to roll realy good scores on them all. Also, you have to go through the extra step of selecting/confirming each party member again every time you load a multiplayer game. You can copy the game to the single player directory as SookmaCook mentioned and avoid that hassle; just be sure the caharacter you want as your main character is in the first slot before copying to the single player folder. One other advantage to multiplayer, at least in
BG I, is that you can pause the game and still get into the inventory, without the game restarting.
