Do you think of the spellbooks?
you can use them to let your people learn new spells (but they will get fewer mana points).
And it is required that this fellow has his skill in the certain path (fire,moon,...) high enough to learn this spell if so, you should be able to click on invoke (the flaming dagger icon) if you right click on the book
