....my fighter. I wanted to dual class him to a Priest of Helm so I could keep using my swords...BUT didn't see this as an option. Is it? I know you can choose to be one at the beginning of the game, and being a fighter it would be the logical choice...But before I fugg my character beyond all repair I thought I would ask.

There is no priest of Torm, do you mean Talos? Anyway you wouldn't be able to use swords anyway because you can only use weapons clerics can use (flail, mace etc), and you can't dual class to a kit, only to a straight cleric. Sorry.

I meant Helm http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...les/tongue.gif (see edit) And if you can't then that sucks http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif
What other god would a fighter take? (unless he/she is sick of all the gore). I know you can choose your God in AD&D so if you are not given a choice in Baldur's Gate, then they messed up! I better write an E-mail to the NWN team http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif |

it would be madness BG is not specificly a D&D game, it's rather based upon it And a Priest in BG2 cannot use Swords no matter what the God Can i See your stats???? it's needed for dualclassing ------------------ http://potgrond.netfirms.com/Eyes.jpg I'm Watching you... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/hero.gif |

Clerics can't use swords or other bladed/pointed weapons that's why the churches have paladins.
If you are going to dual class a fighter into a cleric specialise him/her in warhammer and/or flail for reasons that will become apparant later and dual class at a level divisible by three because you get an extra weapon proficiency every third level. For BG2 9th level is a good place to change classes, if you have ToB as well you might want to consider changing at 12th. Anything over that is a bit of a waste and takes too long-you'll be well into ToB before regaining your old abilities if you dual class at 15th level and that can cause problems for some party balance. If you go at 9th by the time you finish ToB you'll be able to dual wield two different weapons at grand mastery proficiency as a 30+ level cleric doing frankly disgusting damage. My character finished ToB as a 35th level cleric/9th level fighter so not using swords should not be a problem. There are some great blunt weapons laying about. In terms of the stats you need you'll need 15 strength and 17 or more wisdom to dual class and be human. |
Ok I am sticking with the fighter, And if you take Cleric of Helm in a new game you can use a sword.(Or is that only in IWD?) And the best Flails and Maces I always give to Minsc.
Thanks for your help http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif And I usually play clerics, but I wanted to try Nalia's Keep on for size http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif |
With Shadow Keeper you can have a kit for your second class,
just set your kit to talos or lathandar, ect. while you are still a fighter - then when you dual to a cleric you will be a kit cleric. |
well helm is not part of the core rules (core rules does not include anything regarding the forgotten realms).
That said you can go the shadow keeper route if you want the kit. Really though there is so many really cool blunt weapons its a non issue to me. |
