I was listening to CBC Radio on the way home from work last night and they were saying that 1 out of evey 3 wives are physically abused by their husbands and 2 out of 3 are verbally or mentally abused. 70 women died last year as a result of beatings from their husbands! They also said that the holiday season is the worst, due to additional stress. That's f***ing sick! Sorry, I hate harsh language, but in this case I'll make an acception.

What makes Chile so special then ? In the US it's 1 out of every 4 women. Not much difference there.

exactly johnny, you know that this time of year is a cops nightmare. seems like all they do is go on calls for attempted suicide or domestic assauult, the holiday stress put on families is so high anyway, add that to a loss of employment, alcohol and sometimes drugs and youhhave a very volitile situation on your hands. most of the time the abuse at this time of year is a mix of these factors. That doesnt excuse anyone from abusing their wives or husbands for that matter ( i have seen it happen )
it is just the facts.

Police officers will tell you that the worst and scariest call is that of domestic abuse because you never know what exactly you are getting into, and if thew people in the domestic are looking for a place to vent rage what better place than an outsider?????????????

sorry got a little off topic.

True, I just don't know the stats for every country. Plus the fact that no study has ever been done there, so no-one was aware of the problem.

I didn't know it was that bad either, but i happened to hear it on the Oprah show yesterday.

And no, i normally don't watch, but Robin Givens was in it this time, and to me that's a very good reason to watch. :D

Great, a picture! That's a big help Johnny. What's her claim to fame?

She was Mike Tyson's punchingbag for a while. She's also an actress, played beside Eddy Murphy in "Boomerang", just to name one.
