Was flipping through the guide in EB, when I saw these very cool boots mentioned as being from the hitchhiking shadow in Amaunator's temple...but I've never seen them. Also, what is required to successfully make the Mage Stronghold items? Thanz.

For the boot, I think you mean the Boot of Phasing, that's from the shadow in the Shade Lord dungeon that is imprisoned after the "word" puzzle.
As for the mage stronghold items, I will only recommend you make the least powerful ones.

How do you get them from the shadow? When it attacks me after taking it across the floor, there is no cloak...also, is it possible to get the more powerful items in the Mage stronghold? Thanx

When the shadow dies, it should drop you the boots (not cloak).
If you are talking about the cloak, then it is the Cloak of Stars that you will find from Shadelord/dead ranger's body.
As for the mage stronghold, yes it is possible to get the more powerful items, but there is a cost. Save the game and discover it, I won't spoil you the fun.

This time however ,i explored further (not shadow temple)and found the gloves of dexterity.

Sure, if you get the Sphere you can get some items,but choose carefully because there could be a great cost.

Me, I always liked the Boots of Speed. Good for pegging it to avoid being thwocked, or to run in and DO the thwocking
