I guess we all like role-playing otherwise we would not be at this forum. But check out these Russians, they are taking role-playing to a whole new level of commitment.

They are recreating the hundred year war between England and what is now France. It seems like fun, does anyone else here involve themselves in anything like this?

I know someone who participates in re-enacting historic battles of the American civil war every year. he's also a member here, although he rarely ever posts. He showed me some pretty cool pictures of their battles.

I used to be a member of a group that recreated famous crimes from the '20s and '30s, but I haven't done it in years. It was fun.

Check out the SCA they run this kind of stuff all the time. I have friends who belong to it and they have their own weapons and armor. They participate in battles and wars between the kingdoms. They are also present at almost all Ren Faires.

American Civil War re-ennactments are very big here. I used to work with a girl whose husband was very into it. They went all the time and this particular group strove for absolute authenticity. You could wear modern watches, you cooked over a fire, etc. etc. She enjoyed it. I must say I like my creature comforts too much.

Sounds exciting ... at least to watch :D I wonder if they'd take in foreigners and how much the participation fee is. Of course, I suppose it'd help if I even knew the languages...

In Japan, there are people re-enacting medieval wars/battles and wear full samurai outfits and an kimono. they also carry with them ancient muskets and katanas. It's so nice and wonderful to watch them and sometimes they even let you join in. :D
