Just adding to my question that:
Does the monks have a unique Craphic in hand to hand combat i mean cool looking kicks and such...

Yes, the monk graphics are cool - he kicks and punches.

No, he is not really useful. Why? Until the end of chap 4, you don't get any decent item for combat. Then, if you are lucky, you will find some +4 guants. But you need to get lucky. Otherwise you will sit there forever with "weapon not effective" on half the encounters.

A higher level monk gets decent MR, useful against spell casters, and when his damage increases to 1-20, he ain't bad... But his AC will always kinda suck, his hps suck, his thaco sux, and he doesn't get the remove portion of "find traps". He can find them, but can't remove them, useless IMO.

Anyay, I pitted a 40th level monk (removed cap) against an 18th level kensai, the kensai armed with a +3 two-handed sword, the Monk with a girdle of frost giant strength (neither had anything else), and the kensai won 10 out of 10 times. High level chars almost always make their saving throws, so quivering palm and stun don't work well. The Kensai had 7/2 attacks to the Monks 4, but with Kai he did much more damage.

If a lvl 40 monk gets beat by the 18th level Kensai, I see no point to the monk.

Anyway, I tried to rationalize the usage of a monk, failed, and dumped him. He just isn't much good at anything, he's only good for role-playing.

I found the monk to be an exceptional class, overbalanced even. They move fast, they get many attacks per round, they hit for a lot of damage, they get a high natural AC. They can't be diseased or slowed, they get lay on hands, they get bonuses to all their saves, they can deflect missiles and stun enemies with a punch. Later, their fists become +3 weapons, they are immune to non-magic weapons, and they get an instant-kill move. I don't know what the guy above me was smoking, but monks are one of the best classes in the game, and not only can a level 40 monk kill a level 18 kensai, but a level 18 monk can kill a level 40 kensai, and in one punch, too.

Sorry, I forgot to address the saving throws issue. You must have been doing something wrong, because a level 18 kensai would not have saved from spells 10 out of 10 times, not a chance. Especially since in the space of time the monk can use Quivering Palm, he hits about 6 times.
