Did anyone play the game without cheating at the start ie by generating money and equipment? If so please tell me how you went. I find it very hard getting going at the start as all my characters keep dying and there is not enough money to resurrect them. I decided not to use my characters from my first game and start afresh and try some of the ideas people have posted such as being a Barbarian. I have just made a Gourk and Dwarf into a Barbarian, should be interesting eh?

start buy making 1 worrior and no other characters only 1 warrior take him out close to town and justn hunt trolls near town get everything you can when you have a full invotory head to town and identify and sell everything but heaing poitions(in a purple bottle)you should have about 1000 gold(atleast i did)if you dont go hunting some more and remember there is no shame in running to town healing up going out killing one and reapeating the prosses. when you get 1000 gold go to town join warriors guild go into barbarian training(for hps)go out kill 20 things by yourself head back and become a barb no hunt around gain lvls and up your magic abillities so you can train as a paladin. save up the cash to because when you are a paladin you are going to join the priests guild when you have all your spells go to ranger training you need an egg, to get head over to the lake and follow the snake river stay on the right side and completely explore the right side one of the clearing contains raptors kill them and get there eggs go back and become a ranger when you have all your spells and fletchery go to the priests guild and go into warlock traing get the spider egg from the spider in the mill and wat ever the other thing was(i forget) when you have all your splells go to ishad nha(after completeing the crypt) and go into samuri traing, complete that your character will now be very well rounded repeat with other characters for a strong group but use different types of characters like wizaards priests and rogues(it will take longer to advance them but you can use the quest bug and transfer the raptor egg constantly, and each character while advancing should go solo

ps only the warrior(s) shound become the barbarian ok.

hope this helps

Hi morningstar!!

Getting started in a new game can be a bit difficult but there are many ways to accomplish this without cheating.

Create your party (whatever you like) and play - save OFTEN. When you get to a point in the game where you need to reload often because characters die or you can't progress because you don't have enough $$ RESET YOUR ADVENTURES on the computer options screen. This will put you back at the beginning BUT your characters will keep their equipment, cash and gains they have made so far in the game. They only loose quest items. You can do this over and over again until they are strong and rich enough to progress further into the game without difficulties.

Hope that will help! If not, I'm sure there will be more advice given soon!

Thanks Willow & Dude 77 for answering!
I did not try just one warrior in my first game and perhaps that might be the key. I will try that next, yes Willow that's how my first game went, reloading and restarting, but it took so much time to get going. I was just interested how everyone started their games without cheating, I have learned so much from the Board. My son is now playing W & W and is doing very well, he has not cheated either, it takes a lot of patience! He also got Scabben to tell him about his childhood and how Scabben was always interested in the rat bones, so it looks like Scabben was bad from the beginning! I still haven't managed to get Scabben to tell me that information, it seems that the game can change all the time and with different scenarios! Exciting isn't it?

:awesome work:

Gday Morningstar,
I played my game without resetting (until after Colassium, but thats a different thread) I only had 5 charactors and had to keep running around killing things to get treasure. My biggest problem with charactor advancement was money until I got a Ranger. I would save often & if a charactor died I would go back to a saved game because I couldn't afford to resurrect.
I tried my very 1st game with only 1 warrior but he died on the 1st day & is still in the morgue.

I'm proud to say that I have NEVER cheated in this game!! And I'm not even having any problems with my party of 4 (Barbarian Warlock Ninja Monk) They can take on anything and I have over 100.000 gold earned through killing and chesthunting! I started the game with 1 fighter, kept using him till I got in to the statue of Kerah in the dungeon, then want back and created the next 3. I reallydont see why there are somuch cheat suggestions here -> the game isnt THAT hard now is it?

Hi Norin! Glad to hear that you have had a success without cheating, yes there are a lot of people with some good cheats but it sure takes the fun of the challenge away. You have an interesting combination there I might try it! Happy Gaming!

What do you mean by "interresting" I actually thought it was pretty standard! I mean :1) Dwarven barbarian : serious fighting power, main character, started as a fighter 2)Oomphaz Warlock : magical destruction of everything level 8 in stone and Fiend Magic, started as a wizard 3) Ratling ninja : good fighting power, usefull for cracking chests and locks, started as a Rogue 4)Whiskaz Monk : Healing and Kung Fu, started as a priest. I tried to take 1 of every class at the start of the game. Then what is the "usual" group made up off?

Hey Ho Moringstar;

I play single character, "Superhero" if you will. Character generation is a long and tidous process for me. I usually start the game with about 16-18k based on how long it takes to get the numbers I want. The character must meet my minimum start numbers: Str 14, Int 18, Dex 14, Agi 14. Always start as Wizard, that's the only way to get 'stone' early in the game.

Is it a cheat. I think it is on the fence line. One must accept the stats that one is given, so if it takes 2-3hrs to get those stats, I have not altered the game, or the code of the Inn keeper. There are many other ways of starting with lots of gold, but they are more along the line of misusing the start game. Or for some, flat out hacks.

A group can be composed of whatever you want it to. It's your group, have fun mixing it up.

hey there morningstar!
naturally, you can basically get past thw whole W&W without cheating, but it would be near impossible coz if i hadnt cheated, ALL my charaters who already got past brimloch roon would have died since the monsters there causes abt. 20 points of damage each time they hit.
i'm not trying to force you to cheat, it's up to you whether to cheat or not to cheat ok?
(but sometimes cheating is quite fun!!! hehheh)
