In his joint speech to Congress and the American people, I thought Bush looked different...older perhaps (I think we've all aged these past couple weeks), and I thought he gave a good speech. He new exactly what he was going to say and didn't have that surprised and scared look on his face.

I agree with you. Kinda reminded me of Papa Bush..liked him too.

The best thing about the new improved model Bush is that he doesn't smirk anymore http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif. It truly was an excellent speech, gave me chills.

Now that I think about it, he does seem to look a bit older. Probably not getting a lot of sleep either. He has a lot sitting on his shoulders right now, I hope he can carry the burdon balanced.

Methinks his speech writers have been working overtime for a week.
Methinks every word was scripted. Methinks he would not have spoken if this wasn't so. (I will admit I haven't seen it yet, but after watching his performance last Tuesday I don't believe him to be the best orator in the world. He may well have put the sentiments into what was being said, but he wouldn't have 'polished' it). EDIT - Sorry, this probably sounds a bit harsher than I intended. He probably said what he wanted to, but with a bit more eloquence than if it was just him writting it. ------------------ "The old law about "an eye for an eye" leaves everybody blind." --Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. [This message has been edited by Staralfur (edited 09-21-2001).] |

He definitely is not the best speaker I've seen, far from it. However it placed emphasis on the content rather than the delivery. THe contnet was chilling, inspiring and very very bold. Some of the best aspects were the message to Islamics. Highlighting the freedom of millions of them worshiping here, that his argument was with those who pervert Islam. Very very important.
At times in his funeral speech Bush sounded like a preacher, he was preaching the word. Here he was enlightening Islamics due to consultation with Clerics here. Very good. very clever. Here's hoping it works and we don't have a "West vs Islam" confrontation. I read a piece today asking why V.O.A. isn't braodcasting the truth into Afgahnistan. The Afgahnis aren't being told that Americas sanctions are because the Taliban refuse to hand over Bin Laden. Hopefully this speech will be translated and broadcast in entirety there. ------------------ I am the walrus!.... er, no hang on.... http://www.animfactory.com/animation...ing_lg_clr.gif A fair dinkum laughing Hyena! |

Sorry, I saw the same Bush that I have always seen, and the reason I voted for him.
From my understanding he wrote or dictated the speach, speach writers had little to do with it, they may have twiked it but it was Bush. ------------------ http://www.123imagehost.com/images/b...arrissig02.gif "the memories of a man in his old age, are deeds of a man in his prime" [This message has been edited by John D Harris (edited 09-21-2001).] |
