I got this Lexmart Z33 printer and it's out of black ink. The black ink cartridge is no.16. I bought a no.17 black ink. The shopowner say Z33 can use no.17 black cartridge. However, when I put it on no black ink comes out. What's wrong? Have the shopowner cheated me? or do I need to do something else?

According to the Lexmark website the #17 ink carterage will work with a Z33 printer, so the shopowner appears to be correct.

Sounds like SOMEONE hasn't been taking care of their cartridge's self-esteem like I told him to...

Either that or he hasn't romoved and replaced it.

umm, just out of curiosity...did you remove the tape on the back of the cartridge? simple things first....

No.17 will work? hmmm...I think I'll bring the printer and the cartridge to the shop then.

I have 2 Z35's. They both still have the original cartridge in there, which is the 16 black and 26 colour. Why the heck didn't you get the same one? Don't mess around with stuff like that, keep it same. Was the 17 cheaper or something? Now you have all that wasted time and frustration. If you keep doing stuff like that, I'm not going to love you anymore. :D

BTW: My Z35's cost my $30cdn each at Staples. I got a deal from the manager 'cos they were missed during inventory. I have to admit, for an HP fan these printers are pretty darn good!

No.16 is no more in sale. I've search every computer shop in town. So the shopowner say no.17 can do the job. Heh! some job it did. :D

Well, the sad truth is that cartridges are too expensive. I use a printer until the ink is done, then throw it in the garbage and buy a new one, cos it's less than the ink! You could also try a refill kit, I saw one at Costco last week for $24 and you get lots of ink. I know it works with our brand, I checked. ;)
