I would not use Jan Janson at all.

He just gets in the way.

There all a pretty high levels. Amomen lvl's up pretty fast I've found as is definatly worth keeping as a Cleric. Jans a good thief and supporting mage. Keldorn and Valygar cut the enemy up. Jaherie is good with her club +3 and I've got the staff of Magi.
