I am having a serious problem with getting this game to run. For some reason, the game freezes up after 5 minutes of play (usually less than that). I have tried fiddling with the settings, with no success. I never had this problem with the first game, nor any other game that I own. If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem, their help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps a brief discription of your system might help us with steering
you in a direction of troubleshooting your problemshttp://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

I am having the exact same problem of locking the computer up no more than 5 minutes into the game. This is the only game I have problems with. My system is:
PIII 1gig
256mb RAM
Voodoo 4500
SoundBlaster Live
Win2K SP1
Latest Drivers and DirectX 8

I have tried all possible combo of settings in the game and no good. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if this will help.......Will reinstalling with the hard disk scanned and defrag help? I had an assertion failure error (i.e. game won't even start) when starting the game until I have done scan disk and defrag. What's the cache size right now?

I have uninstalled and removed all reg entries and reinstalled. Sometimes I get a crc error on install but ususally I don't. I have defragged the system just before the last install.

Cache size is 300mb. Disk Space is not a problem

I have found sometimes open GL and highlighting the 3D causes problems
for some reason. You have probably tried all this but try turning
everything down in the config settings mainly sound stuff and that may help.
usually freezing up is associated with insufficiant ram or disk space but
that doesn't sound like your problem.. If you are running any programs in the
backround like instant messanger, virus program etc, etc, disable them all
while you attempt playing the game this will also dramatically help the
program run better. Good Luck hope that helps a bit??

Thank you for your quick replies (and the warm reception!). I think that I will uninstall and reinstall, after I defrag. I will also turn off the 3D and see how that works. If none of that works, then maybe a shotgun will...

Well, I turned off the 3D, and the game works fine now. I guess the 3D is the problem (odd, though...). Koolayd, give it a try and see if that works for you.

Thanks everyone for your help!
