Since all in my party is high-level (20+), I thought I wouldn't waste time on killing Jon in the Tree, so I set some traps where he stood... well, I am sure you know that cheese.
Well, when I was being pulled down to you-know-where, I can't cast spells! Everytime I try, it becomes a wild surge. how shall I take the final battle without any magic? I have no wild-mages, they are all pure.
Even Jaheira gets wild surge. What is going on?

I don't know. Maybe it's a bug or something added bu TOB, for example when you are in hell your spells may have wild effects even if you're not wild mage.

If you have cheats enabled and you press ctrl+h, the game goes into permanent Surge Mode, and all spells create Wild Surges.

killing ren w/o magic is easy. first of all kill his demons. round, two rounds. use whirlwind attack if you've got it. then have all your fighters gang up on him. fire arrow with your mages. me, minsc and jaheria killed him in about 5 turns. you might want to use oils of speed etc. also have potions of hp and regen items (ring of gaxx esp)

give jah the staff of the woodlands - its as good as the staff of rynn but gives her barkskin. i had minsc dual wielding the flail of ages +3 and celstial fury. i dual wielded adjulah the drinker and daystar. imoen has gesen bow, everyone else just used standard slings. +3 mostly.
