Also what would be some cool weapons for me to get, i need to know where to spend my prof points. Dundee suggested staff, but im not quite sure. Open to suggestions. thanks.

Staff of magi is in the twisted rune place. Go to bridge district and find the room with the liche guarding kangaxx's head (or arms and legs, i forget which). Its near the bottom left of the map. Round the corner from that door (next to the water) is another door which leads to the Twisted Rune - i'll let you find out the rest :)

Cloak of mirroring i think you get just b4 the underdark

amulet of power - Aran Linvail (Head of the shadowthieves, 3rd chapter)
boots of speed, gauntlets of weapon expertise - planar prison
cloak of mirroring - sahuagin city (4th chapter)
staff of magi - unmarked house in bridge district (north of kidnapper's lair I think), need a rogue stone to gain access, very tough fight.

You can buy one girdle of giant strength at the adventurer's mart (forget which one)

Robe of Vecna is only available if you have the "bonus CD" installed. If so, two merchants will appear (Deirdre - Adventurer's mart, Joluv -Copper Coronet). One of them sells the robe.

One of this bonus merchants sells a very special katana, try it.

You need to get the bonus merchants for this item, you buy it from Deidre in the Adventurer's Mart.

Download from this link, unzip the files and paste them( except the Readme file) in your BG2 overwrite folder.

amulet of power

You will eventually get it, whether you want it or not. Just continue playing, you will get this around Chapter 3.

cloak of mirroring

You get this during Chapter 4, in the Sahuagin City. You will need to follow Saemon to get it.

boot of speed

Earliest one you can get is from the Planar Prison. Go to the basement of the Five Flagon's Inn in the Bridge District to start off the quest.

stone giant girdle

You get this during Chapter 7, from a Raksasha fighting Priestess Demin in Suldanesslar.

staf of magi

Do a search in the Forum with the following key words, <font color="white">Twisted Rune</font>. ;)

gauntlets of weapons expertise

You get this during Chapter 6, from a blood pool in the middle of a spiked floor room in Bodhi's Lair.<hr></blockquote>

The usual weapon of choice tends to be Katanas. This is because of Celestial Fury and Dak'kon Zerth Blade.

Some choose to have some proficiencies in Scimitars because of Belm and some choose Warhammers because of Crom Faeyr.

Most however, grandmaster in Katanas and max out Two-Weapon Style.

The Gauntlets you get in the Planar Prison are the Gauntlets of Weapon Skill, which is inferior to the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise.

The Adventurer's Mart sells the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength.

You can also get the boots of speed for 15 tokens in Spellhold's dungeon. I don't like having them on all the time though b/c when my party's walking somewhere my main character is always left waiting for the rest of my party to catch up. (Had the same problem when I played as a barbarian.)
