ok, here is the problem.....
every since my computer died, and I had to reinstal the OS by CD boot, I can no tplay my NWN game, I thought maybe it was the game, so bought a new one, nope, still the same trouble. it loads fine, but once you go to the character creation page, it lags, and not just a little bit, that I could deal with, but it takes it forever and a day(approx 3 mintues) to accept a click then when I need to go to the next option, the same thing, and the background, all those swirling colors...the jerk and bounce, not be the smooth play that it used to have, what is wrong? I changed the paging file size, trying to get more memory for it, what am I not doing right? could it be the memory chip has about had it?

computer specs are as follows.....
microsoft windows XP pro version 2002 SP2
intel celeron processer 1.10 ghz 128 mg of ram
NVIDIA Geforce MX 100/200 display adapter
samsung CDRW/DVD SM352B

and the only thing I know about the hard drive is it is 40 GB
so am I missing anything...on a side note after it crashed, the hard drive some how got Partitioned, and everysince then it has been acting up......

Are the video card drivers up to date?

Do you have the newest Direct X?

Stormymystic 11-04-2004 04:05 PM

not sure about the card drivers, everytime I try and update, it tells me no better match was found. but I do have the latest directX

When my computer dies I suspect the hard-drive. Maybe you should defragment it to see if it makes it all the way through - though I suspect it might be okay if you managed to reformat (which I'm assuming you did after it died). That partition is strange, and might be an error of the reformat that I'm assuming happened.

some of that stuff sounds related to graphics as well, so do what dplax says and let us know.

Good luck, and I feel your pain. I had to reformat my old Compaq 4 times in one summer back in 2000 It died and stayed dead lol.

Download the newest Nvidia drivers from the official site. They're probably the problem.

:/ that means I have to look up all that tech stuff

yep, that was the problem ;) the only thing is it said it is not compatible with XP, yet it says it is for XP, so I went ahead and installed it, the game runs fine now, thanks for all of your suggestions

Enjoy the game stormy!

Adding additional memory will help things quite considerably. 128MB with SP2 isn't enough, especially for a game such as NWN which transfers a lot of data over the system bus between the video card and system memory.

it is ok, I got a new computer :D
