trapped in snake dungeon

I seem to be trapped because when i went to get the monkey idol near the kitchen I can't get the elevator i came in to go back down is there another way?

Hopefully you haven't run into the elevator double-click problem. There's one elevator where a button starts it, but also stops it. If you accidentally double-click it, it runs once... and then never again (until you click, of course).

If you ran into that one, you're stuck, unfortunately. I don't believe there's a way to fix that... although with Shadow Stranger's excellent hex abilities, there might be a *slim* chance that the *exact* hex location for the elevator status could be found and flipped... but it might be easier to reload your last save game, or take the "recall adventure" option that resets your game to the last time you left town.

I think the bulk of the save game files are protected by something called a "mod"(?). In other words, the content is encrypted in a random way. If that is the case, you won't be able to hex edit anything until you remove the encryption.

To test this theory, save the game, walk the party a few steps and then save again. The two save files should be very different. PC records are the only things that are not scrambled.

Thus a mod for W&W is currently not on, I have not been able to decrypt anything more since my last posts.

This does sounds like the double click problem with that elevator.

Not likely that at this point in the game that you have such great spells as TELEPORT or CALL OF HOME ??

Hope you have a recent saved game - SAVE EARLY, SAVE OFTEN!! I always had about 4 save games going for any one game - one save was for Town when I was satisfied that I had done all I needed to do there. Another was for outside any dungeon or such that I was about to enter. Other saves for were within the dungeon - before I tackled something difficult or for just when I had been in there a while and wanted sort of a "half way through" save.
