OK, in the Lower Ward, I did what Sebastion asked and killed the Green Abishai. When I talked to the critter, though, he said something about that he knew how to enter the Siege Tower. I didn't pursue this further as I thought at the time that it wouldn't be important. But now I need to fetch some goodie from inside the thing in order to complete the Dream Machine, and for the life of me I can't figure out a way to enter. Sebastion won't help me either.
So my question is: did I forfeit my chance to enter when I killed the Abishai? I don't want spoilers, only to know whether or not it is still possible for me to enter the Tower, as I'd have to start a new game otherwise.

You can still enter the tower though you killed the Abishai, just explore every building in the Lower Ward and talk to everyone you meet about the Siege Tower, sooner or later someone will give you a clue on how to enter.

Ah. I'm usually too impatient to talk to everyone on the streets in games such as this. That explains why I missed it then. Thanks

Not everyone, just all NAMED characters, or characters who look different from the normal everyday "citizen" NPC's.

That's what I normally do, yes, talking to all named characters. Found who I was looking for BTW. Talked to him before, but I guess I just didn't question him enough.

The key to entring the tower, is not wanting to acces it. As soon as your char realises that, the portal will apear right next to the place where you killed the Abishai.

You don´t need to enter the tower to continue the game, but it will give you another option for the ending, so it can be worth the time though. The portal will appear close to the dawbridge and you will see a "action" cursor once you have realized that you will not want to enter it! ;) as stated above. There is someone else that will give you a clue, but it´s been to long since I played the game to remember the name.. Sorry..
