If drinking wine is good for the heart, then would a small glass of wine each day improve the chane's of the baby developing a good heart?

Mack_Attack 01-06-2005 05:42 PM

UM no. ;)

LOL

To a baby, wine is a bottle of vodka.

If i ever get pregnant, i promise to experiment a bit.

Once a body is fully developed, small amounts of alcohol can be beneficial, but during the development phase it can cause problems. For the most part, the occasional small drink by a mother to be isn't going to damage the baby, whereas heavy drinking certainly will.

When pregnant, don't drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or do drugs. Why take a risk with your baby?

Perhaps they just don't want to pay for the kid once he/she is born

This was a hypothetical question. If the answer was yes, it helps your baby (small amounts of wine), then why WOULDN'T you want to help your baby? But I don't want to get into a argument here. PM me if you want to know more.

Good point. In this case abstinence is totally safe.

No, I doubt it. I always imagined wine was good because the alcohol thinned the blood and helped it get to those hard-to-reach places. Or maybe it doesn't work like that at all. But I'm sure it's only beneficial for an already existing heart. Even if it *was* good for the baby's heart, the risks outweigh the questionable benefits. Though grape juice is a safe alternative.
