Looking For Help: D&D Character Builds...Time To Teach My Kids !

Hello! I have three girls, ages 16, 13 and 6...and it's time to introduce them to D&D.
I used to write stories and run modified versions of D&D games in the gaming forum, but it's been so many years I don't even remember some basic stuff.

I have found a Beginner's Quest to start them out on, and have let them begin working on their characters. With them being so new to it, I am doing most of the character building with them to ensure all the stats come out well.

I need some help! Who remembers how to do this stuff and can lend a hand?

I grew up in using 3rd Gen (and obviously v3.5 with NWN, BG and IWD).
I respect 2nd Gen as well...but am willing to learn more of 5th Gen if you think it's worth it...I doubt anyone here does...

See following posts for Characters. Hey...the girls came up with this stuff without my help. I gotta wonder what they've been watching or reading!!!!

Are the stats done via rolls? If swapping around is allowed, I'd do some swapping:

Str: 11 Drop one point from here, and add it to Dex.
Dex: 15 (+2 ability mod) Want to pump this as high as possible for To Hit rolls
Con: 11 (supposed to give racial mod of -2, but hoping as a 1st campaign for a kid, I could drop it for now) your house, your rules, drop one from here and add to Int to fit the bio.
Int: 10 (+2 ability mod)
Wis: 11 Drop one from here, add to Int to fit bio
Cha: 10

Stat bonuses are added on even numbers. The Bio says they're smart, but the Int score doesn't reflect that. Barring that, being elven, I'd have put the odd points from Con and Wis into Dex for accuracy with bows, Int to fit the bio, however. I'm not much good at the other two, but I can build an archer. Level up stats should go into Dex.

Note: It may be that from 15 to 16 requires 2 points to make, I'm a bit fuzzy there. If so, leave the Wis alone, and take the point from Con to add with the other for Dex.

Feat selection as leveling should focus on Ranged, bows specifically, if available.

Re: Looking For Help: D&D Character Builds

Concerning your suggestions on Winter, Robertthebard, I will take them with much appreciation! I'll update the posted sheet in a bit.

UPDATE: Ability Scores Updated.
I need to read up on feats...I don't remember them like I do the Skills section.

I cannot find good enough sources to get me moving on the following data:
*How do I determine Modifiers, like Dex modifier, Str Modifier, etc?
*Base Attack (bonus)

How to properly count for and use Fortitude, Reflex, and Will.

Aren't there tables in the DM guide? (I haven't updated from v. 3.5, so maybe I'm wrong) But our DM always looks mysteriously at that volume when deciding.

Most likely. I have an electronic version saved somewhere...found lots of stuff online, but About three weeks ago I set a date for the game to begin on the 28th...I've been spending so much time on this with the clock ticking down and was just hoping to get some faster answers than what I was doing alone.
The things I have been reading have been elusive in their clarity...maybe I'm just getting old.

If you're running 3.5 rules, you can always install NWN on a comp, and print the PDF manual's relevant pages, or install it on a laptop, and just look it up as you need it. For anything higher, I've never had the source material, so I couldn't say.
