Canada's largest movie theatre chain wants to sell beer, wine and coolers in its 18 theatres in British Columbia.
Famous Players will begin selling alcohol in its theatres in Edmonton and Calgary later this year after the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission granted licences to the Toronto-based chain. http://www.webfin.com/en/news/news.html/?id=39521 Now I will be able to go see the latest flick and sip a beer at the same time. We are a bit behind in NA when it comes to drinking beer. [ 10-03-2003, 06:04 PM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |

My opinion?, no. It's bad enough minors sneak into R rated movies. Now they can fake ID their way to a bear at the same time?

I thik they should, it will gt alot more adults out again :D
|
I think they should stop selling beer.
What's this about theaters? |

Meh. I'm fairly uncaring, seeing as how I'm not eighteen. My 2 thoughts are:
1) You know those jerks who talk during an entire movie? Imagine them drunk :( 2) No 18 year olds can serve liquor, right? Pritchke, you've probably seen this if you've ever been to the Chinook Famous Players: how many non-eighteen or mentally disabled people have you seen working concession at a theatre. Answer: never have I seen that at Famous Players. |
The world absoultey GLORIFIES alcohol. It ignores ALL the problems that are incurred by it's consumption, and just focus on how it makes one feel at the time. It destroys countless lives. Everyone I know that drinks often has had some seriosuly bad shit happen to them, DUE DIRECTLY to alcohol. Broken relationships, injuries, fines, lost jobs, you name it.
Pardon the language, but this is an issue I will NOT back down on. |
Definitely. I used to drinks into the theatre in my younger days, why not jsu sell it and make a fortune more on concessions. the only bad thing would be that it would priced really high like at the stadiums around here I'de imagine. a pop is already like $4 I bet beer would be at least $6.
