I was i nthe mill and climbed to the top level. Everytime I tried to climb down the ladder, I would just fall and take alot of damage. What am I missing here??

what works for me is backing up over the ladder while looking almost strait down. Then just move forward(down) and you climb down safely. It takes a little getting used to. I fell the first few times.

Like almost every other first person game that requires ladder climbing. I just fall and take the damage. I just hope that I don't encounter a ladder that is so high that it'll kill you when you fall, like in Deus Ex when you try to climb down a ladder on the edge of a tall building.
