Welcome to the Forums.

Check down a thread or two, for a similiar problem. In addition to the possible solutions there, try deleting the contents of your cache file completely and replay.

Welcome to IW, HSlayer

You might want to read Micah Foehammer's post with regard to a similar issue that another user had with the game. Here is the url: http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...c;f=3;t=000607

*LOL* Great minds, Micah .....

Too bad the sticky feature isn't working as that post of yours really is a must read for anyone with technical problems related to the game.

LOL, Thanks Cyril!

This is a tough problem though. I have checked out the BIS threads on this and have found it detailed in this exact form, and in half the cases it has NOT been resolved successfully. :(

This might be related to windows xp as well. Wish I knew what Slayer's OS was.

Micah Foehammer 05-30-2002 08:27 PM

Slayer,

Here's a couple of other things to check out as well. Try turning off the 3D acceleration and EAX sound. Also make sure that you have the most recent drivers for all of your hardware.

thanks for the help, and ya i do use win xp but then what do i do? if it never works?

l-lellSlayer 05-30-2002 08:33 PM

anyone question: if it has this kind of eror in iwd then would it be possible there can be the same type of error in bg2 or what about iwd2? also can i acess the level through another persons game?

Micah Foehammer 05-30-2002 08:34 PM

SLayer,

Try the steps I listed and if THOSE fail, check out the win xp compatibility mode. This problem might be related to that as well. (I have to profess that I am no win xp expert. I am running the game under win 98 SE and it has run without a hitch, regardless of whether its IWD, HOW or TOL).

And if ALL that fails, there is STILL a possible solution. Try everything I have listed first and if that fails, send me a pm or an email (be patient for the reply though).

Slayer,

GOOD IDEA!!! If you have access to another machine, try putting your saved games on a floppy, and copy it onto the other machine and try it there!! Once you're past the problem, save the game and copy it back onto your machine.

If the inability to access the wed file is related to a device failure (ie; the cd-rom) then yes, the same problem MIGHT happen with other IE games. Or ANY game for that matter.
