It doesnt really matter if you dont take Imoen with you when you have the chance in spellhold.
She doesnt add anything really and she has no chracter interactions.
So if you want to ditch her, by all means do it as you wont be missing out on much if you do.

I dont agree ForGex, she's also a child of bhaal and of course there will be extra dialogues interaction etc And as I read in previous post, she gains special abilities

Forget about timestop!! special abilities like Dragon's breath (this'll be ToB though) and Comet are much better in committing damage..!!

With all the magical enhancements available throughout the game, ie..ring
of lockpicks, danger sense, gaunt. of dex., potions, etc. you can temporarily
turn either one of them into a decent thief, as needed. I always have better
rings available, but keep the lockpicks in my gem bag.
