That was the best thread I've ever seen on IW in the years I've been here actually. I feel we should start something up. I do have a huge temptation just to go round posting bad taste nonsense to get a rise from people... but I think I can resist...

Beaumanoir, my post wasn't aimed at any one person in particular. Just my two cents on the general event of anyone saying there's something wrong about anything. Like some who complain about the politics and/or whatever president that's been elected that they don't like. They complain about those things and they don't even vote.

Add- On re-reading my previous post, I guess I DID word it in a way that could have been seen as personal.

I am very fond of the posts that people create when drunk, as you tend to see another side to people then and some drama can potentially ensue. But, I also wonder just what it says about their social life when they're hitting internet forums in that state!

So, we've had 60 members (out of 17,906 at current count) visit in the last 24 hours. Out of the 60 how many actually posted? I suspect that it is the same dozen or so people, time after time. And actually the poor, old, tired Question thread is a prime example, the posters (guilty as accused) are the same few people. Responses to Bungleau's posts are the also, generally, same few people.
So who's going to post a bit of life back into the forum?
Who's going to start the next religious discussion?
Who's going to throw in a controversy?
Who's going to throw in something of general interest?
Who's going to mention Creationism?
Who's going to do anything at all?

That's a bit of a tough challenge. We've really worked the religion thing as far as we could I think. I even started the big bang thread, but it didn't go too far. You think theory could have gone on longer. But, once again, I got the last word in. :)

I am too ignorant in politics to speak to that...

How about homosexuality, or same sex marriage? 'Course, that could fall into religion again.

Maybe abortion?

To clarify, I think alot of poster came here for the debates and discussions, and not just for the gaming fora. Most of these fora are probably not attracting as many posters as they used to, and other debates are limited. I was fairly recently on a break from IW for about a year or so, largely due to this. I don't play as much games as I used to, and without that there wasn't that much of interest for me on IW.

In the end this is Z's board though, and he decides what kind of board he wants.

Even got to a point where we thought it would be fun to see who could get banned the quickest, so the board was actualy worth reading. We never went ahead as a) we reckon we could get banned within 5 mins, and b) once banned we couldn't read the aftermath.

The board has turned into a kiddies playground......you can't do anything without a bollocking. The last religious thread is a perfect example, with that nib who was trolling, ruining it for everyone else. And everyone else felt the mods wraths because they were telling him to piss off.

And general discussion is just filled with random spam threads + the odd interesting thread regarding someone going on in the world.

Only reason I still come on here is to read the MMO forum, and check if there is anything interesting. I don't think ive ever posted in the cafe thread, as its pointless. I tried the question thread "just to join in" and got bored within 5 minutes. And if a topic is started my Bungleau i just don't bother to click on it (which is shame, as on the rare occasion we do get a debate going, he's actually very interesting to read).</font>

I orginally joined on here years ago for the BG forum. I stopped BG years ago, but stayed for the debates in GD. Why I'm still here I don't know, as the debates have long left.

But most of the old members also left when the interesting debates/discussions stopped.</font>

Wondering when you'd show up with your trademark tact. :D I agree with you, this board has changed so much in recent years. All my favourite posters have buggered off at some point. Caleb, Azure, Exxon, Velkyn - the list is pretty big, I can't even remember half of them any more.

I think people just need to stop worrying about what may or may not offend different people and get something interesting going.

As I see it, there's two parts of IW; the genuine game discussions, and the more general discussions and debates. Both of these have diminished in compared to 2003 when I joined.
