Firefox Trouble
It never fails, whenever a virus slips past my protection, something always goes awry with Firefox. I've had the viruses removed, but for some reason, Firefox doesn't respond to any actions when I click the icon to bring up the browser.
Any suggestions? |
Re: Firefox Trouble
Have you checked the shortcut to see what it's actually running, and then tried running that yourself?
Or tried running it some other way (desktop icon, through start menu, etc.)? What version of FF are you running, too? |
Re: Firefox Trouble
I've ran it in Safe Mode and tried every other interface available to start it.
I'm running off of version 2.0.0.12. |
Re: Firefox Trouble
Same version I'm running. You might need to export your bookmarks (if they'll export) and reinstall, or hunt 'em down and save 'em manually. Unfortunately, I don't have any other thoughts on it... :(

Re: Firefox Trouble
If you execute C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe (or wherever you installed it) does it still not work?
|
Re: Firefox Trouble
You could also try to delete your current shortcut and create a new one by right-clicking the exe file/link in your start menu programs?
|
Re: Firefox Trouble
I've reinstalled, created new shortcuts, and tried the main execution file, still nothing. At the bottom of the screen, all it says is 'Looking up en-us.start2.mozilla.com'
Still nothing though :( |

Re: Firefox Trouble
Does IE work? Have you checked the hosts file for contamination?
|
Re: Firefox Trouble
Maybe it's a tumah?

Re: Firefox Trouble
Have you checked connection options in Firefox?
|
Re: Firefox Trouble
I can't even access the settings for Firefox, I can't understand why the hell it's so screwed up.
|
Re: Firefox Trouble
darn! rip it outta there, have windows clean out your system afterwards and start all over from scratch.

Re: Firefox Trouble
If you want to try intense surgery, you can *remove* your firefox settings. Navigate to...
C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and you'll find your FF configuration. You can move or rename the folder (or delete it, if you're really, really brave) and all your settings will be gone. Try starting FF then, and it just *may* act like a brand-new installation. Then again, it might not... :( |
Re: Firefox Trouble
remember to save your bookmarks first. i always go ballistic when i forget to save them.
default location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile copy "bookmarks.html" and save it on your desktop. i always forget to do that and kick myself afterwards. V***V |
