I'm getting ready to start my 3rd go-thru of BG2 (#1 is on ToB and #2 is on BG2 Chap 3). I'm wanting to incorporate the characters I haven't had in my party (for any long amount of time) before - but it makes an ecclectic mix. I ask for opinions.
1. PC (Kensai - will dual to Mage, Lawful Neutral) 2. Aerie (love interest - only one I haven't done) 3. Anomen (only adventured w/ him once, and let him go on a killing spree - I want to do it right this time) 4. Korgan (took him to get the book before, then let him out. This time I want him in for the long haul). 5. Jan (I've never worked with him at all) 6. [slot will stay open for Chap 2 quests, will decide who to fill it with later] Will this work? Will I be able to balance this party's attitudes? Am I setting myself up for an unavoidable clash? Thanks! |
You would probably want some more wizardly focused wizard. You don't need to train your thief as a pickpocket since your familiar can take care of that (to some extent).
You will probably want to fill out your last slot with a mage of sorts (Imoen comes to mind). I think Aerie and Korgan will get into trouble. |
SPOILER
* * * * * * * * * Yes Aerie and Korgan can't stand each other and Aerie will leave if Korgan spends too much time in the party. So you can't have both Aerie and Korgan. |
Damn, I figured the Aerie/Korgan thing. I need a good tank though. Plus, I've not had Korgan much, and his ability to block out mazes, etc seems cool. Guess we go w/ Keldorn again, and feel guilty for not releasing him from service. I'm hoping my wizard will be very wizardly and will fulfill that role well..
I guess a big question I have is regarding Anomen. . . (Spoilers) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Should I regard Anomen as a cleric or a tank in the long run? I don't know what kind of role he fills in the party after the you-know. |
Spoiler
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ If he passes, use him as a tank with clerical powers. If he doesn't pass, use him as a tank with clerical powers. I NEVER have him fail the test though. You thought he was annoying before... |
Hows My Party Line Up? (Negative Opinions Allowed As well)
1.Me (Mage,)-Spell Chucker 2.Edwin - Spell Chucker 3.Minsc - Front Liner 4.Korgan - Front Liner 5.Keldorn -Front Liner 6.Valygar -Front Liner (should I have viconia fill this slot instead?) & the party Conflicts ive come across are Edwin & Minsc, Anomen & Keldorn,Aerie(if youve screwed up his family quest, which i did |
Edwin and Minsc hates eachother and so does Keldorn and Anomen (if Anomen has failed his quest).
I would say that you will probably need to get rid of Keldorn since you have the (fallen) Anomen, Korgan, Edwin and are contemplating getting Viconia. If you want to keep Edwin you will need to find a replacement for Minsc too. You could get Jaheira and Viconia. Vicky is a kickarse cleric, but not much of a frontliner while Jaheira has her merits as a tank. I'm sorry, but some of your choices has severely limited you in the frontliner department. |
:\ i dont have anomen in my party, i chose to have keldorn instead, since anomen cant fight very well...& whats the ideal party to take to spell hold btw.?
|
Here is my party (opinions!)

Protagonist (Cavalier) Aerie Anomen Jan Jaheira Haer'Dalis A good party with all the necessary classes, and two NPCs which definetly will add humor to the group. BIG SPOILERS! * * * * * * But, remember that you get Imoen again in Spellhold, so if youwant her, be sure to have an open spot in your party! Or take along Yoshimo. ;) </font> |
