Philosophy of Life in One Line

A challenge, can you write a philosophy of life in one line? Doesn't have to be funny, maybe thought provoking. Something like: "Do unto other before they do it to you." Here's mine: Never pass up a chance to go to the bathroom.

From a song:

"The meaning of life is to give life meaning."

I offer two, for your consideration...

Share the Magic

or

When you were born, you were crying while everyone else was smiling, so live life such that when you die, you're smiling and everyone else is crying.

That second one is really two lines, but I crammed 'em together (in case you didn't notice ;) ).

The purpose of life is to die

lol who told you that? even the most negative dude who believes there is no higher point to life admits that at least one point is to spread your seed i.e. reproduce, that's the lowest form of purpose that anyone can give to life, the purpose is definitely not to die, cos then we wouldnt exist in the first place

hate to sound soppy but I think it's true that one of the main underlying points to life can be summed up in one word:

love

(of people, your dream, your aims, your work, God, etc. whatever)

without it, you feel nothin worth feelin and feel that your life is worthless and you might as well die

Based on my own Athiestic Existentialism:

'Make your own meaning'

(But the temptation to just write 'Be excellent to each other' is just too much... :P)

It's actually my own personal belief. And yes, on the surface it sounds like an incredibly bleak and negative outlook on life.

But to me it is simply a matter of beliefs and perspective. And without getting into religious debates I'm going to leave it at that.

Being a Lancashire lad like myself I thought 'another pint of Thwaites' would have been the philosophy of life? :D

It's all a big game we involuntarily entered ourselves into, so have fun and play it safe 'cause in a few decades, you're worm-food. ;)

Oh, and 'do unto others' and all that...

I don't commit suicide because I'm enjoying life. I never advocate people outright ending lives at all. I think everyone on this planet going about and having fun and experience in life is wonderful, and I'm all for it. I just feel there is something greater to our existence and that comes when "death" comes. Whatever you believe or define death or the 'afterlife' to be, I see that as the point of life. But why miss out on all the fun during the ride to whatever it is comes after?

And I'm leaving it at that. I'd hate to get this thread closed because we are going far too off topic and personal.

Vaskez 02-23-2008 09:02 AM

Re: Philosophy of Life in One Line

ohhhh, you believe in something better after death, that makes more sense than just believing "death" is the point, ok let's leave it at that, I was just surprised before.
