there are a lot of options and consequences in this game which makes it a pretty good one. the only thing that it lacks is the random encounters which i think adds life to your pc.

Sir Exxon 09-29-2002 05:01 AM

Some reasons:

-The gameplay is great, with many quests and sub-quests
-Outstanding graphics
-Your character get's really strong
-Many NPCs to choose between

Etc, etc. ;)

Merlin Al'Thor 09-29-2002 06:25 AM

what Sir Exxon said times 2. i don't know how u found it boring, i mean i use to hate these kind of games but BGII got me hooked on them, and i didn;t get bored for a sec. But i was mighty angry...i didn;t know u could pause the game and for almost half of it i was struggling to control my characters. OF course when i discovered u could pause, i furiously cursed my inanimate cat figure.

Andrew Mcveigh 09-29-2002 03:04 PM

FYI: Merlin, if you post twice by accident, you should erase one of them.

i think BG2 is so good because it's huge! sometimes you could be talking to someone, and it'll give you 2 possible lines, and each one could change the total outcome of the game! that's why i love it. there are so many quests, and each time you play the game it's completely different!!!

True_Moose 09-29-2002 03:36 PM

-Deep
-Strategy
-Epic
-Fun to play
I find it hellaciously boring until I either
A) Start to fight liches, dragons and the like
B) Get to Spellhold
but when I'm there, I have so much fun it sometimes takes me as little as 5 hours to beat the rest of the game, that's how much fun it is.

Keraptisdm 09-30-2002 08:29 AM

The depth and breadth of the campaign with NPC interactions. Cities and towns are bustling with activities (day and night), lots and lots of things to do, and your choice of dialogs impacts what can happen later on. It's not just hack and slash. So many different charaters types to play means I'll be doing it over and over again. Just like BG1. FYI: I have not finished the game yet. For gosh sakes, who wants to be stuck behind a computer playing games when it's summer?!?

Hi Megabot!

Heatmiser 09-30-2002 02:13 PM

One of the things I liked best about BGII (compared to BGI) was that from the very beginning, you think you have things figured out and are on familiar ground and the game throws something at you to send you spinning again. The great plot, NPC involvement and character development are great.

SilverBear 09-30-2002 02:22 PM

If you didn’t think the game was any good why did you play it through three times?

Why do you belong to a forum about the game?

Why do you post in the forum?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Darthiir 09-30-2002 06:02 PM

Ok. I agree.
But I'm getting bored waiting for BG3.
THERE MUST BE one.

Actually the storyline is finished so you can't really make a BG3.

yeah lets hope so there should be one afterall the previous two sold well so why not make another one? Baldur's Gate is a great game I recently bought Neverwinter Nights but still on chapter 1 I abandoned the game to play Baldur's Gate 2 again. I'm not going to play Neverwinter Nights until I've finished SOA at least one more time with a new party for me it is simply the best.

Darthiir 09-30-2002 06:14 PM

They must make a new one. They must rais Bhaal. They must do something. I need my pills...

Do you believe that NWN has something to do with BG? It sucks comparing to BG!

Vedran 10-01-2002 03:41 AM

Yes, it sucks, sucks indeed. Brilliant effects! 3rd edition! 3D graphics! So what? It is not a singleplayer game in the first place. There is no party. It is (almost) Diablo in AD&D. (And I can not play it sue to Radeon drivers for WinXP  )

True, BG saga is over. But why not start... Waterdeep saga? Sembia saga? Calimport saga?
Your opinions?

Bahamut 10-01-2002 04:12 AM

simple. YOU NEVER GET TIRED OF PLAYING THE SAME GAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
It has all the bases covered (of course not really) but this was what I was looking for and they got it right on the target.

Jon Irenicus 10-01-2002 04:37 AM

I like the game because it's plot is good, it's graphic r not bad, GOOD magic effects.... and pretty realistic compared to other RPGs( DIABLO ).

Megabot 10-01-2002 05:59 PM

I liked BG 1 much better!

JeraalMordeth 10-01-2002 10:59 PM

The best couple of hours come when a solo Mage is level 15-17. This is when the game really shines because each fight keeps getting harder and harder, but if you don't have ToB installed your mage stops getting better and you can't use gay Time Stops and Improved Alacrity.

If you want to have some laughs, import your level 17+ mage(with full spellbook) back into a new game. If you do only the essential stuff you can get back to Spellhold in about two hours, and if you have other characters in your party they all seem so weak for some reason. Hehe.

Gromnir 10-03-2002 08:21 AM

I think that the game has excellent quests and sub-quests as well as a great storyline but it could use some more random encounters! :D

Hayashi 10-04-2002 02:10 AM

it has plenty of those "YES!!! I did it!!" moements where after many frustrating attempts at solving a puzzle or taking a down a tough monster, you umpteenth strategy you cam eup with finally worke, and you see the bad guy going down...

I was stuck in the Mind Falyer city trying to get past a group of 2 umber hulks and 4 ultharids. After many attempts, I finally suceeded in killing 'em all. That wa a Gratifying Moment In Gaming (GMIG(tm))

:D

Kaltia 10-04-2002 11:51 AM

lol, Megabot, I might have to harm you with my trusty whip for suggesting such things....
This is getting dangerously close to kronastia's thread where he refused to listen to anything that was said about BG and changed the topic to FF when he could. I like Bg2 'cos it's got gameplay, depth, it can be hard or easy, it has re-play value due to the MANY mods out there, and it whups butt! (Sorry, can't help but add this one...It has cows... :D )
By the time i had reached ToB I found myself very attached to my NPCs and unable to dump any of them and say nasty things in a banter or such-like

Megabot 10-05-2002 03:15 AM
