Well I got one big problem. After finishing Baldurs Gate II I put the game aside for a long long long time. But now I want to play it again. So here we go, I wanted to do a full install on my new HD but to my horror there's 3 files on CD3 that's unreadable because I scratched the disk...=/ No full Install for me...so I tryed a medium install with cdswapping. I got at least to play chapter 1 again before I went too the Temple Ruins and the game asked me to insert CD3...
I was like praying it would work but I quickly turned to curse everything. It did not work. So now I beg if anyone could be so kind to send me the 3 unreadable files from their CD3.Im gonna do suicide or maybe genocide if I dont get to play Baldurs Gate 2 just 1 more time...
nah, but I would like be like extremely thankful to any help given.

The files are:
\CD3\DATA\AREA140A.bif
\CD3\DATA\AREA140B.bif
\CD3\DATA\CREAnim.bif

Have a nice day

I would be happy to help, but, those three files are 39 MBs together. My ISDN would take hours to send that. Can you borrow the CD somewhere?

P.S.
It is CREAni.bif

You might be able to get the disc resurfaced somewhere.

Other than that, BG2 has been on budget for an age, you should be able to find a copy somewhere. Or Bioware might send you a replacement disc.

Or if you have cable someone could email the files, but im on 56K so im not doing it. I detest 9 hour uploads.

Well, 2 solutions for you.

1) Go to a store like Best Buy, CompUSA, or pretty much anywhere that sells a lot of computer-related items. You can get a CD resurfacer and that should fix the problem, and I think they cost about $20 or so (and they can also fix music CD's as well).

2) If you have mIRC, I can meet with you sometime and transfer the files. It will likely take quite a while, but that's the best option I can think of using it's direct file transfer. Private message me and let me know if that is what you wish to try.

I have had this problem myself, but it was only one file and a friend sent it to me, so I understand your frustration. =]

Surely some of the folks on multiplayer boards/sites have faster connection and could send you the files. I have a fast connection at work, but that may require I burn a CD, in which case I might as well mail you the CD. But, if you still haven't found replacement files by end of day tomorrow, lemme know and I'll get it to you. I hope you have a fast connection.

Thaks to anyone offering help and advices, thansk allot. Well I managed to get hold of the files from a friend in Sweden but I have encountered new problems. I made a image of the cd with the new files and burnt it onto a new cd. The problem is that when it asks for cd3 while installing, I insert the cd press ok and then it asks me for CD4. I swap cds and it asks for CD5... I read about that problem on Interplayes support sites but none of them solutions help =(. I guess ill have to spend 20 bucks on a cd resurfacer then... argh...

peace

That means that the files didn`t go to the right place on your burnt copy.
You`re best off to copy all the files to HD, to the same base folder; if you have enough room. Make sure that the files in the folder follow the same format as on the CDs; as in, if they should be in a sub-folder, put them in that sub-folder.

Twenty bucks a pop to resurface a disc? I hope they at least kissed you first!!
Even here in the middle of the backwards Ozarks, it only costs three dollars. Have had to have several game discs resufaced,(yes, I have kids!)

I think that Brennihelvete is buying the thing to do it with, instead of just paying to have it done ;)
