Any tips on what makes effective spell combos to use in the various spell sequencers you can set-up?
Here's my current fav combo for minor spell sequencer (2 spells up to level 2): Offensive - 2 magic missiles Defensive - Blur & Mirror Image Disabling/support - Web & Horror or Web & Stinking Cloud Like to hear what you would like to use for: Minor Spell Sequencer Spell Sequencer Spell Trigger Contingency |
In the major sequencer try hitting people with 2 Greater Malison's and a Chromatic Orb. Once you get to the Spell Trigger I like to add Lower Resistance to the mix.

: Offensive - 2 Magic Missiles : Defensive - Blur and Mirror Image : Disabling - Web, Stinking Cloud Spell Sequencer : Offensive - Three Lightning Bolts or three magic missiles : Defensive - Blur + Mirror Image + Stoneskin (sometimes improved invisibility too) : Disabling - Greater Malison + Web + Chaos Spell Trigger : Offensive - Either Chain Lightning (x2) and Greater Malison or Greater Malison + 2 Cloudkills (awesome for solo f/ms...weaken em up!) : Defensive - Protection from Magical Energy + Stoneskin + Protection from Normal Weapons : Disabling - Pierce Magic + Breach + Dispel Magic or Greater Malison + Stinking Cloud + Death Fog :D Don't really use contingency, but, for Chain Contingency Either When 50% of HPs lost, cast : Summon Deva, Improved Mantle, Summon Earth Elemental When hit by enemy, cast : Greater Malison, Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting, Improved Mantle |
I am assuming a pure Mage/Sorcerer, and not variations like Cleric/Mages. This should be considered Basic Spellcasting though. ;) The number of combinations are nearly countless, so I will just list down the ones I use the most.

Mislead on Self when Self is Disabled. Protection from Magical Weapons on Self when Enemy is Sighted. Chain Contingency: -------- 3 Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wiltings cast on nearest enemy when enemy is sighted. 3 Pierce Shields cast on nearest enemy when enemy is sighted. |
It's too bad vitriolic spheres aren't in the game.
Imagine a sequencer with three of these babies. |
IIRC, there is a mod that adds Vitriolic spheres (clarification-IWD spell). I think it was the Acid Elementalist, but that is a fighter kit... :(

It seems all my fav combos have been vouched for. Except one. My get out of jail free card:
Chain contingency: Set to activate when helpless (held, stun, panic etc.) 1x Improved Mantle 1x Protection from the Elements 1x Simulacrum This will save a solo magic users butt countless times. Although if you're good with your buffs, you can play through the game with this contingency set and never use it once. Oh well. |

okay.... dont think I'm a noob but Ive seen the words ''Summon Deva'' alot these times, my question what is it? and is it a Throne of Bhaal spell or what? because in SoA I didn't saw any spells named ''Summon Deva'' though :s...
plz explain because i do not have ToB so.... |

I like to keep a Protection from evil in a contigency set to enemy sighted. Not for any practical reason, it's so I get a cool, Irenicus like, nimbus of electricity around my primary spellcaster, when he enters combat.
