The All New, All Exciting Music Thread!

What's everyone listening to at the moment? I'm currently trying to get in to 'The Cat Empire', who seem to have a few amazing songs, and a few not so great ones. Trying to seive out whats good from what isn't. Also been listening to alot of 'The Littlest Man Band' (HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THESE!? From Long Beach, CA, and no-one seems to know them at all).

Also, quick check, anyone here making any music of their own? Bands? Solo stuff? Tell Tell Tell. :)

At this very minute I'm listening to Metallica. :) but often it's just random music...

Sometimes I'm listening to Loreena McKennitt. Folk-stylish type of music which is just lovely. Try the song "Skellig" or "stolen child" or even "All souls night". :) Definitely something to listen to if you haven't.

I am still making my own, see the link in my sig.

I am currently listening to nothing, though. The CD just got done, but it's got Tesla, Evanescence, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Dio stuff on it. One of my playlists. I'm up on the Metallica stuff, though.

Right now i'm listening to "Let me think about it" from Ida Corr ft. Fedde le Grand, great dancetrack.

La Chaleur by Noir Desir... can't beat a bit of French rock. :wiggle:

Right now, it's Nine Inch Nails. A song called Heresy, I think.

Perhaps NIN was thinking about that French Rock thing? :dark5:

The Police live... fall out. Followed by live Warren Zevon... Johnny strikes up the band.

I like live music... errr... recorded live music... isn't that an oxymoron? ;)

When you look at it that way, all recorded music is live.

I can advise Switchfoot to those who want to hear an alternative band, but not gothic/death metalish. They're just... rocky. And I like them, even though they're a tad bit 'fabricated'.

Been listening to my whole media library on random for the past few hours, right now the song playing is Opeth - Master's Apprentices. Nothing beats good scandinavian metal. :)

So how exactly did this one turn from a "recommend good music" to a "what are you listening now?" thread?

Anyway, I saw the Cat Empire live a few months ago, they were pretty good. The whole swing thing is 10 years late for its last revival, but it's entertaining nonetheless. :)

Lately I've been listening to a bunch of real oldies. I've been converting my old vinal LP to CD. Lot of comidy, old music and classicals.

I'm tempted to strangle you for saying that, but sadly you're right. :D French rock music is generally lacking (nonexistent). Noir Desir are, IMO, pretty much the only decent band to emerge.

Speaking of foreign bands, Leningrad are a good Russian ska group, though they've been banned from performing in Moscow for their overly-rude lyrics (keeping in mind that western swearing is a lot milder than eastern swearing :D).

My deepest sympathy goes out to you.

They are quite possibly the worst "Product" of the Australian music industry.
I hope you won't pass judgement on the rest of us based on them.

As for me, getting back into some old Megadeth!

Haven't listened to any music recently, but i've had Ministry going through my head all day. Isn't it cool how your brain can make music sound better when you can't actually hear it? Schizos make me jealous. :P

If you go a slight bit heavier, there is Adagio, The Old Dead Tree, Manigance, etc...Adagio are decently known in prog metal circles, while the others I just picked up while going to concerts, as they were the openers to well known foreign bands.

I did enjoy A.S Dragon's album Spanked though, so some French rock seems to reach an International audience.

Oh you git! I went last year, but just didn't have the money this time around. GUTTED. Really wanted to go as well. :'( Loads of people I know are going though. Although I didn't think the line-up was that good this year, I was tempted by The Arcade Fire and Jimmy Eat World. Saw Lemon Jelly there, best gig I've ever been to.

What about Men at Work? Actually no, who am I kidding - Overkill was a brilliant song. :) Cat empire, from what I have gathered, have a few good songs, but mostly, they're pretty rubbish. I like The Wine Song.

Less than Jake have just come on Shuffle - Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts.

As for me, check out my band, if anyone has the time and fancies a listen. Let me know what you think: Piano, Bass, Drums, Saxophone and 4 Vocals.

Who needs food when you have beer?

And clothes. And erm, everything else in my bag.

I managed to fit it all in. Just. Weighs about a million tonnes (ok not that much) but hopefully will leave it on car/train/bus/floor while I'm waiting to get in :D)

Ok I seriously can't wait. Or sleep now.

I remember food wise, all I took was a couple of bags of rice and soup.

Believe it or not, I came up with Rice in soup. It was fairly 'al dente' so say the least. I was impatient. Oh I also ate some raviolli straight from the can on the saturday night. Anything is better than those falafel kebabs they sell. They look good, but honestly, just don't. DONT.

Lost prophets used to be so good. Then they release Last train home and it allllll went down hill. Shinobi was awesome.

I was treated to Celine Dion's "Power of Love" (or sumat) and Phil Collins' "Another Day in Paradise" at work today. Ah, life is good.

I don't believe that you get to complain when at my own work, I get to hear the Wiggles, Raffi, Hi-5, Jump In, High School Musical, John Lithgow, etc.

And Beau, LTH is one of my favorite songs. We seem to have completely opposite opinions, I don't like Fake Sound of Progress and much prefer Start Something and Liberation Transmission (In that order).
