Need one to translate just two phrases. Can't seem to use an online dictionary becaue the phrases are written without the umlauts.

Post the phrases and let's see what happens.

Or are they not the kind of phrases you're supposed to post on a family-friendly forum.... ;)

Let's hear it, German is not my native tongue, but i don't have any difficulties understanding it.

Right, plenty of Dutchies on Ironworks. And most of us tend to speak at least a little German.

You reckon it's our education or our experiences with Derrick? :D

German is my first language. I'm pretty rusty though. Just post it and I can ask one of my parents if I can't do it.

ZFR 05-26-2007 06:01 PM

ok ok

Here they are

1.
Unruhe. Hab keine angst. Ich verde dir helfen. Du vers deine unruhe bau vergessen ... deine unruhe vergessen.

2.
Das ist fur dich. Es is fur dasch da zeggertraggen hot. Bald sehr ... sehr bald.

3.
Es ist alles in ordnung. Ich werde dir helfen. Du vers deine unruhe hal ferguson.

They are sentences from the X-files episode "Unruhe".

Also if by any chance anyone has seen the episode, I'd be happy if he could tell me if Mr. Vince's and Mrs. Anderson's German is proper and "accent-less" or not.

Dude...first of all...let me start by saying that that's some pretty shitty German. I'll give it a try nonetheless...

1) Unruhe. Hab keine angst. Ich verde dir helfen. Du vers deine unruhe bau vergessen ... deine unruhe vergessen.

Restless. Do not fear. I will help you. You'll soon forget your restlessnes....forget your restlessnes.

2) Das ist fur dich. Es is fur dasch da zeggertraggen hot. Bald sehr ... sehr bald.

That's for you (the next part doesn't make any sense, and it's definitely not written by a German) Last line says something along "soon very......very soon"

3) Es ist alles in ordnung. Ich werde dir helfen. Du vers deine unruhe hal ferguson.

Everything is alright. I will help you. You'll soon forget your restlessnes (worries, problems, trouble...whatever)

Johnny right, scarry as it sounds. The middle of the second one is definatly off somehow.

I'm just on the phone with my dad. The middle part of 2 is a mess. He says "traggen" is to carry, which I knew, but zegger makes no sense.

It was just a longshot, the whole thing was extremely bad spelled. If it's proper German, i can give a decent enough translation, but this was just awful.

Sir Goulum 05-27-2007 02:45 AM

Yeah, Tragen is definitely to carry. Was it you who wrote these out, or did you get them from another site?

Es is fur dasch da zeggertraggen hot.

My best guess is that "is" is actually "ist".. just another spelling mistake.

Es ist fur dasch (dass?) da zeggertraggen (could it be das eggertragen or something?) hot.

Of course, my german isn't that great either.

Edit: Assuming zeggertragen is actually eggertragen, I punched egertragen and eggertragen into www.google.de to see what sort of results I would get (both game up with nothing, I was just looking for what it would suggest to me instead). It gave me ubertragen and ertragen, meaning transferred and borne respectively.
Oh and zeggertragen punched out zugetragen, translating to course-carry. Am I helping at all?

Thanks guys.

The sentences are not written by me. They came from http://www.insidethex.co.uk/transcrp/scrp402.htm The page is made by fans, it is not endorsed by the creators of x-files. And I guess the people who wrote don't speak German that well.

Like I said, if anyone actually sees the episode I'd like to know what kind of German they actually speak. Whether it is bad German in the movie itself or whether the German in the movie is good but the guys who wrote the script in the website above messed it up.
