Real or fictional. My vote goes to the Star Wars Kid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_kid). A great leader of man, ruined by bad publicity. ;)

Mel Gibson as Porter in Payback -- he's an armed robber / thug who gets shot by his wife and best friend and is left to die when they doublecross him after a robbery. He survives, and wants his money back...

For me, it's a tie between Irina Derevko from Alias and Greg House from House MD. Anyone familiar with either of them will know why.

Batman. His pure form was the ultimate anti-hero, not the later incarnation with rubber nipples on the batsuit. That was terrible.

Deadpool. No debate.

The Punisher, although I have to agree that Deadpool is awesome.

Hmm... I'm having trouble deciding... Riddick? Nah... that's just because I liked Pitch Black... Spike Speigel perhaps? I do love the character, though he's a bounty hunter / reformed villain.

Alright let's be serious here:

Haruhara Haruko!

Zainy, random, mysterious, nonsensical, wild, crazy, manipulative, with her chaotic attitude, bright yellow Vespa, and diesel-powered Rickenbacker she's coming to the planet nearest you to use your brain to open wormholes to get what she wants.

Yes! She's definitely my favorite anti-hero(ine) ever.

For me its gotta be El Superbeasto from Spookshow International fame, being such a total menace makes him the ultimate Anti-Hero in my books :D

I don't know how many of you have read the Prince of Nothing series by R Scott Bakker, but one of the protagonists is a monk by the name of Anasurimbor Kellhus, who goes through the entire novel callously manipulating people without a thought as to the morality of his actions - the ultimate "end justifies the means" character. Utterly dislikeable, yet compelling. Really good series too, if you're into George Martin/Steven Erikson style brutality in your series.

Obviously Elric would be another.

QFT. Deadpool is it.

Venom is another too. You know, when he's not chasing Parker all day he does mean well.
