Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Cloudbringer 02-02-2007 01:12 AM

 PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours.

Cloudbringer 02-02-2007 01:15 AM

Happy New Cafe, all! I'm off to bed but will be on vacation for a bit so try not to eat all the cookies. I'll leave Johnny in charge of the coffee and tea....I know he won't drink all the profits there! :D :D :D

Bungleau's got the unending bowl of m&m's under control and if you keep Ilander's rooster from molting too much, SomeGuy won't need to call in the penguins to sweep too often! See you all when I get back! :D

Mack_Attack 02-02-2007 01:48 AM

wellard 02-02-2007 04:09 AM

Yes ... recover from my night shifts with 5 days off also :D

And get the house looking nice, my brother is flying down to visit us for a fortnight. I'm loking forward to showing him around. It will be his first visit to Australia.

johnny 02-02-2007 04:33 AM

Well, since Cloudy left me in charge of the coffeee and tea....there won't be any tea as of today, and the coffee will contain cognac. Enjoy. :D

Bithron 02-02-2007 05:42 AM

I'm off to Playa Del Ingles in a few hours, so I'm not gonna be around for a while..

bubbe 02-02-2007 07:13 AM

This weekend i'm off to visit my girlfriend at her parents. Maybe a party on saturday night but I think I'm to tired for any party. :|

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Bungleau 02-02-2007 09:10 AM

Coldest day of the year so far here, with a high of 6 tomorrow (-15 for you centenarians)... and my son's got an overnight campout! Supposedly it's in heated cabins, but we'll see just what it is, and just how warm it is, later.

He's going to skip snow tubing before the campout... my wife really doesn't want to go... because I won't be there!

Tonight's also the daddy-daughter dance, and I get to take her out for a special evening. We'll have dinner, go to a school dance (where they'll play too much modern new stuff for me ), and have a good time. She really likes it... and that's what's important

Then it's resting up for Super Bowl Sunday... and getting ready to go to Madison, WI next week. Happily, they've given up all chance of being warm. The high temperatures may get into the positive numbers... or over -18 for you others...

Madman...Tescos own Zinc tablets work wonders I've heard...

I had the worst hangover during my trip to Amsterdam. Can't remember from 9.45pm ish to 7am the next morning. I think, maybe it was a dream, that I had a punch up with a Geordie bloke but you know...I'm not too sure.

Ah well, I shouldn't have drank so much :D

So I'm seriously pretty excited. No joke.

It's been basketball homecoming week here at my high school, crazy dress up days and class competitions abound! Will the Seniors rule over the others once more, or will they be toppled in an upsetting win from one of the underclassmen? Who knows! Who will win the title of Homecoming Queen 2007? Who's going to announce all of the candidates and their activities and whatnot during homecoming?

Me. :D .

I love my school.

Well hello Lord Kathen, yes time does fly.

I hope you, Lady Aberdene and the Gibberlings are well.

Bungleau 02-03-2007 01:10 AM

Woohoo! The overnight campout got cancelled! No freezing heebie jeebies for me tonight!

Corb was a little bummed, but he got over it during Deal or No Deal...

Man Who Fights Like Woman 02-03-2007 01:44 AM

Who in their right mind still goes camping anyways? There's no internet on camp outs.

Bungleau 02-03-2007 03:45 PM

I too can live off the land...given there's a bar build on it. :D

antryg 02-03-2007 06:20 PM

Wouldn't "living off the land" mean you are on the ocean or off in space? Personally, I'm living on the land.

Don't thank me, I'm just doing my part to confuse the non-native English speakers here. :D

Madman-Rogovich 02-06-2007 04:07 PM

Things are going fairly well round here, actually kicking some arse in college for a change (top o the class when it comes to sight reading :D )

If anyone would like some private guitar tuition pm me you're requests and I can sort you out, free of charge of course I want to teach so all exp. is welcome :D

Ivelliis 02-06-2007 04:18 PM

Can you get down to Middlesbrough to teach me Madman?

Not that I've got round to going to buy a bloody guitar yet...I'm so unorganised.

Madman-Rogovich 02-06-2007 04:30 PM

Probably can't get that far south mate but i'd gladly give you some good tips on getting started if you're interested.

You confuse us native-speakers enough. ;)

Hi, all. Bye, all.

Ladyzekke 02-07-2007 08:59 AM

Blah it snowed overnight and they haven't sanded our street yet! Can she get up the hill, can she get up the hill. Can she get up the hill without sliding and hitting parked cars on the sides of the street? We shall see LOL!

Tired of the frozen tundra over here!

Ivelliis 02-07-2007 10:07 AM

It snowed here too LZ. Was freezing when I went out this morning (7.30am), and now it's all sunny (3pm). Bloody stupid weather.

@Madman - that'd be brilliant, I could do with the help. I know my mate will help me a bit, but mostly I'll be teaching myself using t'internet/dvds I get and stuff...

DrowArchmage 02-07-2007 12:53 PM

Oh dude, The weather in Michigan sucks big time. Its been in the negatives for about a week and its not heated very well in school.

Man Who Fights Like Woman 02-07-2007 01:05 PM

It's like 70 degrees Fahrenheit in Atlanta today. Am I lucky or what?

wellard 02-07-2007 01:31 PM

Mack_Attack 02-07-2007 02:33 PM

O come on now. What is life with out shrinkage.

DrowArchmage 02-09-2007 06:09 PM

Dude, Mack, that sig is so sweet.

Mack_Attack 02-09-2007 10:50 PM

Thanks Drow. I kinda sucks me in when I watch it.

Well the weekend is here again. And 3 nights to work. Not so bad I have a new guy that I am traing. He has been with us for a few months. So he is basically on his own. So looks like I can catch a few ZZZZ.

Just finished marinating the chicken for the big BBQ for work tommorow.

Looking at the TV line up and it is kinda sad. Just ghost whisper at 9. Not a huge fan. But Jen is not to bad on the eyes. Ok over and out.

DrowArchmage 02-10-2007 12:59 PM

Ha, no, she's really not.

My car is being a turd nugget. It wont start and when it does, my new system doesnt work. Anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix it?

Sell it and buy a motorbike

DrowArchmage 02-12-2007 11:23 AM

Ha! thats funny. Lets not and say we did.

It's a 2005 Monte Carlo in case it makes a difference.

Bungleau 02-12-2007 11:31 AM

2005, eh? Smells like it's newer and probably still under warranty. However, "new system" implies that something may breach the warranty slightly.

Soooo.... what new system (audio, video, gaming, nitrous, etc)? How long has it been happening? What are the other symptoms? Have the folks who installed it verified their work (or you, if you did it)?

Aight man, first off how are you with the regular open chords?

They're always a good way to start getting you'r fingers a bit of strength while still sounding good.

Ivelliis 02-12-2007 02:51 PM

Er...*goes out to buy a guitar as soon as his music-mate is free at college* :D

Q'alooaith 02-13-2007 08:48 AM

sigh...

My fiancé dumped me...

He's not been nice about it at all...

Bungleau 02-13-2007 09:11 AM

Bummer, Q'alooaith.

*sends over the endless M&M jar*

They don't really help, but they don't hurt either.
