In the coming Month, we will be changing to a new forum software, and PM's do not import. This means if you have PM's that have information, history, or personal significance, and want to keep them, you will have to highlight them with your mouse, and copy and paste them into a new text document, or safe the webpage.

I tried VERY HARD to find a way to import them--even a 3rd party plug-in, but no luck. (I have many I want to keep--like Animal's PM's and others).

Anyway, do this soon. Before January 1st 2007.

I assume that all the posts are being transferred too, if I read that right? Just not PM's?

Well, there's this PM in my inbox, that was never meant for me, and it won't let me delete it either. It just sits there, annoying the hell out of me. Now it'll finally be out of my way. :D

Oh man... yeah I've got years of PMs.... what's agood way to back them up? I don't really want to go into each one and cut and paste... That sucks they don't import. :(

Yeah because of the age of this forum software the PM won't Import. I know Z has been trying to get the conversion across to the new software but its like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

The only real way to back them up would be to cut and past them. If there was another way around it we would let you know.

I have 4 PMs from Animal too, but they are from February 2005, so it's been almost two years. To copy them into Word or something for me just wouldn't be the same. They are short PMs as well, all the longer ones he sent me were at the Oasis and I deleted them before I knew he was dying. :( So I dunno, I think I'm just going to not copy and let it go. These things remain in my mind anyway. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Can't you save the whole page as an offline HTML page? If you save the pics and all, it will come up just as you see it now in years to come. Save enough pages and you can actually click the PM's and it will open like the regular link would, since you downloaded the linked page.

Yep, Everything else will import fine.

ALL posts/polls will import, as will accounts. BUT, your password will be reset to something random like "DF4882F" each being random for each user, and will do a mass email out to each member, then you can log in and change it to your password you want.

*** Make SURE your email address is 100% correct, and working, or you won't get an email.

(I'm sure I'll get loads of bounce backs, and emails yelling spammer and such.. yey! [img]smile.gif[/img] )

I just thought I'll bump this for a reminder.

And by the way, you can back them up easily and nicely simply by saving the html page. I used Firefox and it worked for me. The page appears just like it does normally.

Good thing that I don't get any PMs. I only got one from Larry about my sig size... :D

Make sure you back that up :D
