Lol! I think three years is a bit harsh. I know airport security is no laughing matter these days, but still.

i read about it.. now he is both jailed and humiliated.. he could have just said something else besides a bomb.. sheesh

still seems well-harsh since he didnt actually do anything illegal

Joking about bombs and such at security points like that is a crime. So even though he didn't have a bomb, joking about it is just as much an issue.

Similar to crying "Fire!" in a crowded theater...

Yeah, if he get convicted he'll spend the coming three years getting pumped by penises.

Actually someone I know got one years ago and he did get bigger. The pills don't work, I read that in a column, but the pump apparently does.

In an update, all charges have been dropped. Apparently, he said "pump", not "bomb", and he whispered it so Momma wouldn't overhear.

Amin, 29, of Skokie, had been charged with felony disorderly conduct and faced up to three years in prison if convicted.

His attorney, Eileen O'Neill-Burke, did not immediately return a message Wednesday seeking comment.

She explained earlier that her client was embarrassed to explain the object to the security guard in front of his mother, who was traveling with him — so he whispered. The guard misunderstood, and thought he had said "bomb," O'Neill-Burke said.

The attorney added that Amin, an Iraqi, has a thick accent and she herself had trouble understanding him until he brought the pump to her office. She said she recently learned Arabic speakers sometimes have trouble distinguishing "p" and "b" sounds.
