Doubt it....

Pranksters in Berlin took things a step too far when they filled footballs with concrete and displayed a sign goading fans to kick them -- with inevitable results.

Can u kick it? -- The guilty concrete footballs.
OK, so not everyone is into football, and to those who are not enthusiasts this must feel like the longest month ever, but that hardly justifies the sick joke that unknown perpetrators played recently on football fans in Berlin. Someone seems to have gone out of their way to cause people genuine harm by placing six footballs on the capital's streets and a sign asking people to kick them. The catch? The balls were filled with concrete.

"Can u kick it?" was written on a poster near the innocuous looking footballs. So, probably without thinking too long about it, two young guys, aged 21 and 23, took up the challenge and gave the balls a good kick. Unfortunately the leather balls had been filled with concrete and weighed around 10kg each. The men sustained foot injuries so severe that they had to go to hospital.

According to the police, the balls were tied to lampposts, banisters and trees near the Fan Mile in the city center, a spot where thousands of football fans pass through each day.

Police spokesperson Hansjörg Dräger told Spiegel Online, "Unfortunately we have no information about the suspects." He confirmed that they are being sought for assault. The police are still not certain if all the balls are out of circulation, and have asked Berliners to report any suspicious looking footballs immediately.

Yup, that goes beyond silliness.

THat is AWESOME! that really appeals to my sense of Socail Chaos!

like when a friend and i made a huge pile of jellyfish on the beach (not stinging ones or anything) adn then covered it in sand. We hid in the bushes and laughed maniacally when some 4 year old kid thoguht he would jump on someones sand castle.... do you have any idea what a 4 year old sounds like when they find themselves waist deep in jellyfish?

Bet that little punk never jumped on a sandcastle again!

Ivelliis 07-05-2006 04:47 PM

The football one was classic, but Captain Obvious you take the gold. Had be LOL-ing there! :D

JrKASperov 07-05-2006 04:59 PM

Sorry, but hurting people so bad they're put in hospital or have severe pain isn't my idea of fun.

Yeah, crying is enough for me to be satisfied.. :D

Dron_Cah 07-05-2006 05:24 PM

I see the took the correct aproach, at least. That being: Kick it really hard! :D

Captain Obvious 07-05-2006 06:09 PM

in a way, it could have been a good thing. Like the 4 year old in my story, those guys will always think twice before following strange instructions, and will be less gulliable in the future.

and Pain is only temporary... the embarassment of being the moron who kick a concrete soccer ball will last forever!

Kakero 07-05-2006 08:27 PM

One part of me want to laugh about this, the other thinks that this is uncool.

Bozos of Bones 07-05-2006 08:56 PM

When I was a kid, we'd fill the balls with water on gas stations. But not concrete. We were young, not stupid.

Bungleau 07-05-2006 10:38 PM

Apparently two arrests have been made...

Kyrvias 07-05-2006 11:48 PM

And thus, the reign of stupidity ends :D

Sever 07-06-2006 12:29 AM

Lol, Cap'n O. That is Brilliant!

I believe that the world is not inherently supposed to have order. Chaos is the natural way! so, i like to do things to add to the chaos.

things as harmless as changing price signs in shops (once changed a sign at K MArt from $119.95 to $19.95)

Once i was on my way to get some lunch and walked past this Monk guy (Hare Crishna i think (sp?)) and heard him saying to someone "Hi, my name is eric, are you interested...."

i carried on walking. On my way BACK, he stopped me and asked if i was interesting in spiritual harmony. I said "I find my spirit dwells in harmony all the time Eric, but thanks". The look on his face when i knew his name was awesome!

Moving road cones is an oldie, but a goodie.

there are many more, but it is mainly just a mindset.

Come! join me in spreading the madness!

Hivetyrant 07-06-2006 04:57 AM

Heheh, done plenty of this sort of stuff....

My favourite (where possible) is swapping the "Pull/push" sign on a door and just sotting back and watching the chaos that follows :D

burnzey boi 07-06-2006 06:22 AM

I'd kick their ass for that stunt..

*CLAP* *CLAP* *CLAP* . My hero.

I admire your bravery. That was indeed some amazing feat.

Captain Obvious 07-06-2006 04:14 PM

hehe - will have to try the push/pull one - that will be good.

oh, and ZFR, clearly that was an example - i wasnt trying to make it sounds like a great achievement. Yes, it is stupid, Yes it is infantile.

Yes, it is funny. But there's only one day in a whole year that it's encouraged.. ;)

robertthebard 07-08-2006 09:03 AM

So long as you don't knock over the "Bridge Out" sign, on one of those old country roads where everybody drives 100mph. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

N^N 07-08-2006 10:05 PM

I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about... playing pranks is encouraged 365 days a year! The walmart switch thing was a bit infantile and silly though... not really a prank.

I once filled my sis' showerhead with red kool-aid, so when she turned it on it looked like it was raining blood ^-^

SecretMaster 07-09-2006 12:51 AM

The best pranks I've seen are from these new Beef Jerkey commercials (the ones where people play pranks on Bigfoot)

One of them is unscrewing the salt shaker a bit so when you poor your salt, the cap falls off and down comes the salt.

The other is putting someones hand in warm water while their sleeping.

And the other I don't remember nor did I get what they did.

I did that once years ago to a friend of mine when we were on a school overnight trip. He woke up the next morning saying it must have been really hot at not since he was sweating all over. The truth: he wet himself.
