It just started occuring. After some minutes at the computer a blue screen apeears and it says something PAGE_FAULT_ something like that I think.
Any ideas? I have WIN XP pro. |
What's changed recently? New programs, new hardware, new service packs... anything in there.
You may need to go back to an old restore point to fix things (at least, if it's a software problem). If it's a hardware problem, you'll need to narrow it down. Googling for PAGE_FAULT_whatever may help to narrow it down. Good luck. |
Hmm it seems it only happens during I'm making my powergaming party for BG2 in MP. Weird ...
|
When Windows boots again, does it come up with the error message and allow you to send an error report?
If so, send it, and Microsoft should be able to tell ou exactly whats wrong. |
It does not come with the error report. :(
|
Again... have you made ANY changes to your PC?
|
Well not that I would know. I DID delete some UNDO reg files tough ...
|
That shouldn't cause a page fault.
But don't poke around in your registry, Xen - it's fragile enough as it is! What about the error viewer? (control panel -> administrative tools) |
I'll see what it will show.
|
There's no errow viewer but there is event viewer.
|
That's the one, sorry, it's been a while since I've used it. You're looking out for little exclamation marks I think, hopefully at the same time as you notice the problem occurring. Investigate the three sub categories inside the event viewer.

There are some errors in the "Application" section but those are connected to Messenger.
Nothing shows at the "Security" section. In the "System" section there's one error from today but it's connected to Windows Update Agent. There are however many errors on 28.4.2006 and are connected to CD-ROM. One more thing: when I start BG2 multiplayer my screen becomes very colorful for a second. Any ideas what could be wrong? Should I try to re-install BG2? |
Well, that's about as far as I find it possible to troubleshoot in Windows. Make sure you have any recently installed driver cd's handy and then (if you haven't already) try a system restore as Bungleau suggested.
If that doesn't work then try reinstalling BG2 I guess. System restore is quicker though so do it first ;) |
Had the same problem on another computer of mine. Found out I was over driving the vidio card and didn't have the latest drivers.
|
Is system restore safe? I mean will I have to re-install some things or do I just click on system restore and wait for the magic to happen?
I'll try to update my drivers tough I don't think they are any for a GeForce 2 - MX 400. |
Graphics driver.
Yeah, system restore is not a bad little feature. About the only downside is that it munches diskspace. You may not have to reinstall anything - IIRC it automatically takes snapshots every few days so you should be able to roll back for a while with no real changes. Definitely try the graphics driver first though. |
During the installation I got an error and the program told me to stop the installation becuase I the drivers aren't compatible with something in my computer and that installing the drivers could cause serious problems. :(
So how do I use sytem restore then? |
Start -> All programmes -> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore.
Good luck! |
I have just re-installed BG2. I'll see what happens.
|
The problem is still here ... :(
|
A few days after the problems my monitor died. So I now bought a new monitor and a better now. For the first time in my life I have an LCD monitor. (Samsung)
