Based on the GD thread started by Boutte I figured that seeing it as a poll would be good.

Dar'tanian 11-02-2003 02:05 AM

You forgot silence of the lambs, it was scarey because it was real!

Bur shadow nothing is as scarey as that little picture you got..i hope that isnt you!!! ;)

Xen 11-02-2003 04:31 PM

Exorcist

RoSs_bg2_rox 11-02-2003 04:37 PM

I dont think any of them are that scary. I mean like Jeepers Creepers is just crap, not scary in the slightest. I dont think the Exorcist is that scary never seen IT so dont know what its like, but seen all the rest.

No no, fortunatly that isn't me

Don't complain about the movie choices, I just used the ones that were mentioned most often in the discussion. (I disagree with some of them strongly, such as Jeepers Creepers which I found to be absolute crap.)

The Exorcist.

Blair Witch Project. I say this because a similar thing happened to my friend and I while camping, and when I watched the movie by myself in the dark, I remembered my experience.

Terrifying, absolutely terrifying.

Intrepid 11-13-2003 12:13 AM

things are scarier when you are young i rember when i was about 3 or so and my parents got predator out on video, it scared me so badly back then, but now i love it it is a great movie.
of the movies you mentioned i thought the ring was pretty scary and excorcist still pretty good movies.

Daniel_M 11-13-2003 02:13 PM

Without a doubt in my mind, The Exorcist is the scariest film of all-time. It's a dark, grotesque ride through the horror genre, bringing us it's best; as forementioned it's scary as hell, and also one of the greatest films ever made. The Exorcist plays on the more psycological side of things rather then scareing you with gore, guts and chainsaws, most people have a belief that something exists in this world good and evil and the film touches on both sides.

[Edit] Oh yeah, I just rememberd one other, IT the clown...that scared the bejeezus out of me, it still does even now

Tellytubies, definately tellytubies.

Kakero 01-06-2004 07:43 AM

Exorcist win my vote. Also Salem something something ( about vampires ) also is very scary. Maybe because I watch these films when I was still small. Nowadays scarry movies aren't scarry at all and I'm bored with it.

Timber Loftis 01-06-2004 10:05 AM

Frailty.

dplax 01-06-2004 10:22 AM

Other: Silence of the Lambs because I saw it when I was too young.

Could you be thinking of Salem's Lot?

Rataxes 01-06-2004 08:05 PM

Anyone seen Trilogy of Terror? I've not seen it myself, but I've heard that the final segment, about a voodoo doll that comes to life and chases a woman with a big knife in her appartment, is one of the scariest things ever put on screen. I think that movie inspired Blizzards design of the Flayers in Diablo II quite a lot.

Focuses around a smll town that is attacked by vampires.
Thats all I can really tell you as I have not been able to get my hands on the book or movie yet.

Diresage 01-10-2004 08:36 AM

Didn't see "Candyman" or "Evil dead" which are my top two never have managed to lot in the mirror and say CANDYMAN 5 times lol. And that bit in evil dead with thw pencil and the ankle that got the old herrt pounding.

Diresage 01-10-2004 08:38 AM

or "look in the mirror" as the case may be lol

lucius tiberus maximus 01-18-2004 03:34 PM

I dont know i have never seen a really scary movie and ive seen all the ones on the list

khazadman 01-21-2004 07:39 PM

IT was pretty good for a made for tv movie. And Tim Curry was great as the clown Pennywise.

Bozos of Bones 01-22-2004 08:49 PM

IT is a vary scarry movie. And Evil Dead is actually a comedy. And a really good series it is.

Dreamer128 01-24-2004 08:02 AM

IT was very, very creepy. The ring was also a pretty scary movie.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 01-24-2004 12:42 PM

The Gruesome Twosome. Anyone ever see that?
The other movies pale in comparison. The only things that manage to unsettle me are
a) Excess, poorly done gore
b) Cliched "plots" (though I think this movie might have made the cliches, not used them) and of course
c) REALLY REALLY REALLY bad acting

"Final Destination 2" was a horror film that grabbed me by the nuts and spun me around like a New Years Noise Maker!

I've seen the first part. Pretty creepy. Is the sequel more of the same, or an actual improvement?

shadowhound 03-05-2004 11:29 PM

I found final destination 2 more funny then scary, a group of us spent almost the entire movie laughing out heads off at the death scenes :D

Also, it had an incredibly anti-climactic ending - I mean, come on, a giant spider? And it could have been so great.

We all float down here...

Bahamut 03-09-2004 05:54 AM

Evil Dead was great... it was funny as hell... except that part where the main man's GF became that crazy girl who acted like a kid... that all freaked us out.

The Ring Hollywood version isn't really scary... the Japanese is. The Japanese version will surely make you paranoid about your TVs...

Megabot 03-20-2004 10:10 AM

I think The Shining with Jack Nicolson (sp?) pretty nasty film lol and then again i dont see much horror movies enyway

Smoothie 03-26-2004 11:03 PM

I thought Poltergeist was scary as hell first time I saw it. I also thought Ring was scary but voted for Poltergeist (other)

Smoothie 03-26-2004 11:06 PM

oh yeah Salem's Lot was way scary. I had a friend who leaned out his window and tapped on his brothers window with his hockey stick after they watched that movie.

</font>
I am so with you on that one. The scariness was ruined.

Dedzy 04-20-2004 02:34 AM

I better go back and watch the Shining again, I thought it was pretty good compared to most of the others. The exorcist of course certainly was a good one too
