Which do you like more,(Advanced) Dungeons and Dragons games or Final Fantasy?

I say Final Fantasy, they have the best storyline, character development , and villains of all RPGs out there, and they all have an Airship!!!!!

FF, great story line and graphics... except for FF8, which sucked big time...

KAR_MOD1 02-25-2003 09:16 AM

i'd have to say AD&D b-cuz you can make your own storyline up yourself and use your imagination to have fun. and b-cuz i'm not very fond of consoles gaming..

D&D all the way dude. ;)

FF8 is so far below FF7, that evne with its advantageous higher veiwpoint FF& would still have a really hard time seeing FF8.

I said Final Fantasy because that's what I grew up with. FF6 was easily the best of the bunch. FF7 and FF8 were the worst ones in my opinion. Although I think the newest one might turn out to be bad...

Alan_Sephiroth 02-26-2003 04:35 AM

Which, FFXI or FX-2?

Indemaijinj 02-26-2003 07:10 AM

Final Fantasy = Series of Computer RPG's.

Advanced Dungeons and Dragons = Roleplaying game rules set.

Comparison is impossible.

Legolas 02-26-2003 07:17 AM

True, but: (Advanced) Dungeons and Dragons games = series of compter RPGs
Comparison is possible ;)

Then he should have said that in the beginning.

My other point was: There is only one series of games using the Final Fantasy rules and setting.

There are several different games (from different developers) using the D&D rules and setting(s).

Legolas 02-26-2003 07:22 AM

Alan did say that in the beginning. That's why I brought it up ;)

FF: 5 votes
D&D: 9 votes

actually, it seems that every Final Fantasy game takes place in a different world (with the exception of FF1-3 for the NES or Famicon, whichever you had) so it would be more like comparing the Ravenloft games(CRPG), dragonlance (crpg), GreyHawk(CRPG), Birthright(CRPG), Darksun(CRPG) and Forgotten Realms Games (CRPG). I sitll think D&D wins, hands down, I like interactive stories better than being assigned a character, and having him replaced at the option of the game, ie if a character dies, let me make my own, not have him be down until I can put up a tent and sleep, and then he's fully restored.

plus FF games (with the exception of the 1st one) that I've played seem far too linear.

I am likely misinformed as I haven't played them and only read summaries online, but that is the understanding I had from the review & summary i had read)

Alan_Sephiroth 02-26-2003 02:21 PM

Man, just dl an english rom or buy the PSX re-releases!

Kakero 02-27-2003 07:10 PM

Though FF is a local product, I choose D&D. why? I used to dispise D&D CRPG. the 2nd edition rules really makes my head hurt. but since 3rd edition came out. it makes more sense to me. I actually like CRPG that uses 3rd edition.

another thing is that D&D is an english game, my english has improve a lot by playing such games. yes, I actually refer to an english dictionary to find out the meaning of some words are.
