Mouse or Tracker Ball?

johnny 08-27-2002 08:28 AM

I mostly play RTS games, so all you need is a mouse. Click and fight. :D

Keraptisdm 08-27-2002 09:52 AM

My...ahem...mouse of course.

The.Relic 08-27-2002 08:23 PM

I'm sure someone can share the advantage of trackball useage, but I am accustomed to my mouse. It has that cute squiggly tail that gets hung up and everything don'cha know . . .

The Ornery One 08-29-2002 05:29 PM

LMAO
Not going to say what most people probably had on their minds.
Anyway, not likely to be many tracker balls.

i am useing a GE Optical five button mouse. it is SWEET!! my intelmouse explorers were crap. both of them crapped out after a year. the cord kept coming loose from the mouse, and didnt get power, so they didnt work. this one is great though.

Andrew Mcveigh 09-08-2002 01:32 AM

I don't know what a trackerball is... lol! I KNOW! I'M PATHETIC! so yeah, my answer is the mouse.

andrewas 09-08-2002 01:01 PM

Why would anyone with the option choose to play with a tracker ball? Mouse and Keyboard will get you through anything that dosent involve flying, whereas Trackball and keyboard gets you a sore thumb and *low* accuracy scores. (as in I get 5% of my normal hitrate with a trackball - I measured). By preference I use an old style opto-mechanical mouse. Cos a)Im cheap and b)pure optials have an extra 20ms latency on them.

Stick is the way to go in the air (or space) though.

Andrew - a trackball is basically a mouse upside down - you control it by moving the ball with your thumb. Its easy enough to work with, but for games it sucks.

My trusty Logitech optical mouse. Works like a charm on most games.

Megabot 09-19-2002 12:07 AM

Mouseee Mousee here Mousee Mousee!
Thats my choice ;)

Mouse 09-27-2002 09:49 AM

You are all being very, very silly. If you think all that you need to do is occasionally check my balls for fluff you are mistaken. I am extremely high maintenance and therefore I suspect none of you can afford to play with me.

well..... a mouse is a lot more easier to use than tracker ball so its my choice..... :D :D :D

Kaltia 09-27-2002 05:03 PM

Not really. I cannot cope with mice now, they give my wrist terrible ache with all the moving and my trackball is stationary. The ball is quite comfortable and it works fine in games, i really don't understand why people keep saying tracker balls are harder. I suspect it is because you haven't really used them before and are not accustomed to them. i play heavily on the computer-10 hours a day, weekend-and therefore the wrist ache this causes is immense...in the old days when I used a mouse. My trackball eliminated that ache.

Megabot 10-01-2002 06:41 PM

A mouse use a mouse to play LOL :D

Me? They're quicker, more efficent, and I find them sooo much easier to use.
I suspect people don't want to use them because they never have before and it's a fear of the unknown.

johnny 10-04-2002 04:10 PM

Oh yeah, and for the sportsgames i use the Sidewinder from Microsoft, best gamepad i ever used.
