Assuming you like Japanese animation or comics, which ones? Let's expand it a bit: even if you don't care much for the animation or comics, do you enjoy any of the fanfiction that's a regular feature on the web?

Pangur Ban 01-10-2002 05:31 AM

Mainly the movies, its very hard ( and expensive ) to follow a series by buying tape after tape after tape )

Favorites: Akira, Neon Genesis, Ghost in the Shell, Blood: The Last Vampire, Samurai Pizza Cats.

Never looked at any of the fan fiction, not yet, anyway !!

Pang.

Well, the only manga/anime I've read and watched is Dragonball (Z), by Akira Toriyama. I like it a lot, although I must say the best part is over after the Furiza-saga, about halfway through the manga. It becomes a bit repetitive after that.

Favorite fanfic is also DB-related, obviously. Little Saiyalings. A comic about DBZ-characters' youth, focusing more on slapstick-like humour than on fighting, like regular DBZ.

J'aran 01-10-2002 07:32 AM

Oh, and what about hentai, BTW?

...

Erm, actually, no, forget I said that. This is a family-oriented forum

WOLFGIR 01-10-2002 08:25 AM

Well I prefer Manga, many of the movies are a bit too much over the top for me..
I like Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scrolls, Lonewolf and Cub and also Battle Angel Alitha.

The only really good anime I have watched is Ghost in the Shell which is superb by the way..

Hentai?? ;) Hehe, well maybe not the best way to trade all your secret desires away! ;)

I love DBZ!!! it is the highlight of my day. i just started watching the origional Dragon Ball and what a crackup it is, it is funny but um......... well i suppose it WAS made for little Japanease kids but the again so are the current ones though i do get sick of little 13 yearolds saying "when i eat this (holds a pice of candy) i will turn into a Super Sayan." Very annoying. then again my brother does that too and hes 18.

Well I can like every anime show on Toonami, excluding Ronin Warriors, and Zoids. I like Ghost in the Shell too. (that was one weird movie.) :D Ian aka Deathkiller wants me to watch Princess Monanoke, Akira, and Laine.

I've always enjoyed Ranma 1/2: strange, delightfully absurd exercise in obsession.</font>

The pod people, eh? Sounds as though someone's been checking up on Somethingawful.com's game reviews

Anyway, I don't mind anime, but for God's sake, in DBZ they spend half an hour standing around groaning before every battle and calling it "powering up", jeez, I just CAN'T stand THAT part.

Well, it is about two girls who get sucked in by a legendary book lalala... and then their adventure starts there ;)

LowTech 02-18-2002 04:50 PM

My all-time favourite, both manga and anime versions, is Touch by Mitsuru Adachi. In fact he is my favourite manga author and I like all of his works.
I also like very much KOR (Kimagure Orange Road) by Izumi Matsumoto, Rumiko takashi's Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura, Masami kurumada's Saint Seiya and, of course Bahamut "AmakakeruRyuNoHirameki" my friend, Rurouni Kenshin.

About movies I love all Hayao Miyazaki does, like Mononoke Hime. I can't wait to see his last movie, Spirited Away.
