Just curious what most people use re resolution choices.

Now that I have a flatscreen monitor, and it's 19 inches too, I can set it to a very high resolution to get the clear thing going. And with the larger screen it's not too small as it was with my old 17 inch when I tried it with that one LOL.

At work I have this old PC, with Dial-up to boot, and it's set at 600x800, LOL everyone's sig here is huge!

robertthebard 03-08-2006 08:57 PM

I like 1024x768. It lets me put the pics I want on my desktop centered, and still have that jungle of icons on the side. I swear I don't know what some of those are.

Ilander 03-08-2006 08:59 PM

1280 by 1024 is my current, and probably what I'll keep for a long long time...though it wasn't that high until I got my new monitor.

Kakero 03-08-2006 09:07 PM

800 by 600. My eyes will hurt badly if I put it smaller than that.

True_Moose 03-08-2006 09:08 PM

Max, 1600x1200. The monitor's 20.1' of LCD awesomeness though, so it's not as bad as it sounds. :D

Felix The Assassin 03-08-2006 09:17 PM

There is more to it than just that, especially with an LCD, and really so if it's digital, and your vid card is DVI compatable.

With that; "Native" 1280 x 1024 *63.98kHz-H x 60Hz-V DVI.

Callum 03-08-2006 09:47 PM

1024 x 768

TheCrimsomBlade 03-08-2006 11:40 PM

on my new 19" LCD w/DVI it will be 2400 X 1600
it's Toshiba newest but I'll be running it at
1280 X 1024 because at it's higest setting
Lady Zekke's dancer looks like a little pink

1024x768 is what works well for me. Not too big, not too small.

sageridder 03-09-2006 01:58 AM

1024x768 for me as well.

Hivetyrant 03-09-2006 02:24 AM

I run my Dell at 1920x1200.

Ivelliis 03-09-2006 02:26 AM

Another 1024x768 too.

Cloudbringer 03-09-2006 09:11 AM

1024 x768 - Used to be 800 x600 but I got a new videocard at home and a new pc at work!

Sever 03-09-2006 09:46 AM

1024 x 768 if i'm desktopping. 800 x 600 if i'm gaming. I prefer silky smooth gaming over crisp jerkiness any day.

ocellis 03-09-2006 01:09 PM

1280 x 1024 @75HZ. The refresh rate is more important to me than the resolution. 60Hz and bellow hurt my eyes.

Albromor 03-09-2006 02:07 PM

1024 X 768 is just right for me especially when I'm gaming.

ZFR 03-09-2006 02:20 PM

Wow mine is unique... 1152x864

And I keep the refresh rate at 80Hz or whatever more my monitor (19"CRT flatscreen) can handle.

That was my old PC though. Right now I'm limited to what internet cafes offer... :(

EDIT:
oh and my laptop is 1024x768, 60Hz

The 'nice' resolution for me depends largely on how big your monitor is:
15' = 800x600
17' = 1200x700 (my current)
19' = 1200x1000 (me brudders, the lower resolutions look too big on those screens)

I keep my refresh rate at 85 Hz, my wife can 'see' the refreshing with 60. Ingame I tend to use lower refresh rates because it seems to have influence on how fast my game runs. And I'll echo some wise words: 'I prefer silky smooth gaming over crisp jerkiness any day.'

shamrock_uk 03-09-2006 05:29 PM

1280x1024 because that's the native resolution of my monitor. Running at 60Hz, not that this is particularly important for an LCD.

Stratos 03-10-2006 06:24 AM

1280x800 on a 15.4" laptop screen.

Larry_OHF 03-10-2006 10:24 AM

17" Cybervision C70

1024x768

32bit color

dpi 96, normal

85 Hertz refresh rate

Now I want that 30" monitor!!

Mirac Honorguard 03-14-2006 01:05 PM

1200x960 @ 60Hz on a 17"

btw, hi Wendy

RoSs_bg2_rox 03-14-2006 07:20 PM

Haha yeah the 30" would be nice, but you could nearly get two 2405's for that price

1280x1024 here, that's the highest a 19" LCD goes I'm afraid.

Ladyzekke 03-14-2006 08:32 PM

Hi Mirac! Wow haven't see you in ages!! I hope you are doing well

Sir Goulum 03-14-2006 08:52 PM

Just planning for my new computer/monitor's backround, what looks good on a 19" widescreen?

Same here. Love the res, and all games and 3D modeling programs run excellent in this resolution. LCD, 19 inch, DVI.

Attalus 03-18-2006 04:43 PM

800 x 600. Why try anyting else?

1440x900.. you'll never turn back.

Ladyzekke 03-18-2006 10:52 PM

ROTFL Attatus. Try a larger monitor, LCD preferably, then kick the resolution higher and you'll see why one would try something else.

Well I guess from my thread here I see that most use the same resolution as I do, so that's cool. Was just wonderin cause I got to thinking when I post pictures here, they look one size to me on my screen, but might be huge on like, say, Attalus' screen LOL. But since most I see use high resolutions for the most part, no worries then, any pics I post here are fine size wise, and clear, to most everyone anyways.

Jorath Calar 03-19-2006 08:54 AM

1280 by 1024 75hz Never had such a clear image on a monitor before.

I tied putting it up to 1600 by 1200, but it was too small

I have a 19" flat screen. Why should I change? It just makes everything itty-bitty.

Sir Goulum 03-19-2006 03:22 PM

I'm using a 19" widescreen at 1440x900 and everything's a comfortable size.
