I've noticed over the past week or so that IW has been taking longer and longer to load, it will slow down for extended periods, then resume normal speed for a short time. Is this a sign the some forums need archived, a server issue, or just insanity on my part (yes it happens at home or work)
|
I have noticed a slowdown actually too. Nothing huge but I did find myself pinging a few times to check my ISP speeds. It occurs when browsing or posting.

I haven't noticed it. My connection times seem to be same as usual here.
|
Nothing different in the logs and timers.. Hmm, maybe its when you post, the delay in it completing? If so, that may be the 35,000 posts.. when it hits around 40,000 it does slow down a tiny bit, and I usually archive posts to trim it to 25,000 or so.
Let me know exactly where its slower.. PS: AT&T is having backbone issues, so maybe that is it? Check your trace route to www.ironworksforum.com and see. |
I too get slowdowns when I try to post sometimes. I'll write a post, submit it, and it will hang there. I usually open up a new IW page and keep browsing in that one while my post process.
It doesn't happens all the time, I don't know what does it. [ 02-09-2006, 04:22 PM: Message edited by: Luvian ] |
Well, IW has never been faster for me, no slowdowns on this side of the pond.
|
No real slowdowns here from Downunder as well.

IW was just lagging a moment ago when i tried to refresh the forums, heres my tracert log, it's currently still going, timing out. the refresh failed and I'm getting a network error/page failed to load message from firefox (IE does the same)

I have slow down too, but I always thought it was my isp problem.
|
No slow down at all on my end.
|
No slow down up north. In fact, I thought it got a little faster.

You know, I've had slowdown a lot since I've been here, and I've always suspected it was happening inbetween. Could it be a dns server somewhere is pointing to the wrong place, or something like that?
I'd really like to know where the signal time out... |
I've had significant slowdowns lately when trying to post...the thing just hangs, sometimes for twenty seconds....a couple of times, I had to hit the stop button, and then "Add reply" again, which took off immediately.
EDIT:...like when submitting this post... [ 02-09-2006, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: Ilander ] |
I run into the same thing as Ilander. I'll post, but it will sit waiting for IW for a while. I've gotten to where if it sits for more than five seconds or so, I stop and repost. Like my last post... resubmitted twice.

I don't have long waits here on IW, but I still ran a tracert in case it will help you. After some jumps (which I didn't detail since they won't be too interesting), I get to the above mentioned one on the 22nd jump and after that the requests all time out. Is it possible that the next step doesn't reply to pings? [ 02-10-2006, 03:40 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |

Just made a post, and it took several minutes to go through. My tracert hung just after the same place that dplax did... only my times for that hop were in the 70ms range.

That difference is probably from the fact that I ran tracert from the other side of the Atlantic. ;)

Agreed. Physical distance does have an impact.

Yeap, I hate to report that we have at times, complete stalls. At other times, just some lag. Then on ocassion, no slack time at all. Just this very evening, as I passed over this topic, I was posting in another, in took a total clock time of 128 seconds on my Firefox counter to post!
