I'm sharing a room here in Dublin with another person...

Few days ago as I was moving a drawer chest I found a piece of paper behind it. It was probably left there by people who lived there before I moved in...

... it had usernames and passwords written to emails and several other websites. Moreover it had a two bank account numbers written and PINs for them. It was all neaatly written; Username: Password: Account number: PIN: so if someone stumbles across it knows what's what  .

Can't believe people can be so stupid. Writing all this on a piece of paper. and moreover not searching for it properly after realizing it's lost. The person's lucky it was I who found it and not somebody else . Though I'm still pondering the idea of pinning it to a notice board somewhere .

That's really stupid but check this out:

http://survey.mailfrontier.com/survey/quiztest.html

I had 70% but for the ones I got wrong the site didn't give proper proof for me. I suppose they know what's real but some arguments are a bit weak.

Iron Greasel 11-30-2005 12:10 PM

I got 70% too. And all I got wrong were really legitimate emails I thought to be frauds. I guess I'm just paranoid.

Larry_OHF 11-30-2005 01:34 PM

I got 9 out of 10 correct, (or 90 %)

I missed the last one.
I am surprised that I did not get it right.

Legolas 11-30-2005 02:01 PM

I think I'd delete all ten of those without even reading the contents.

Bungleau 11-30-2005 03:10 PM

Seven of ten here as well... and I was also just more skeptical. No frauds got past me, but legit stuff was rejected.

Realistically, though, I use more than just the email to determine if I'm going to believe it. I look at the source code of the email, check the links that are used in the email, and also consider whether or not I have a business relationship with them.

9 out of 10 here.

Sir Degrader 11-30-2005 08:41 PM

I didn't respond to any of them, tsunami victims be damned!

Calaethis Dragonsbane 11-30-2005 10:41 PM

I got 1 out of 10. I said they could all bugger off.

robertthebard 12-01-2005 12:27 AM

I got 8 of 10, but erred to the side of caution...The two I missed were legitimate, but I said they were frauds...Of course, if they actually made it to my inbox, they'd all get deleted.

Me too. That test is so damn stupid that it actually irritates me.

Absolutely.
At least they have a sense of humour claiming they might terminate your eBay account if "your actions may cause financial loss or legal liability for you, our users or us."

There is, of course, no section 9 in the user agreement at all.
